Freemason, divorced and remarried Anglican Bishop Baker desecrates Pope's altar

Scandalised once more. Pope Francis, Vicar of Christ on earth, has allowed the breathtaking blasphemy of a former 'worshipful master' of a masonic lodge - an active, senior Freemason and divorced Anglican bishop, and over 30 Anglican priests - to celebrate a fake 'Mass' in the mother of all the churches of Rome and the whole world.

The Archbasilica of St John Lateran is superior even to the Basilica of St Peter's. It's the pope's own diocesan church. How long since his 'Holiness' celebrated Mass there - even if only a Novus Ordo Mass rather than the Vetus Ordo, the Mass celebrated in this mother of all Catholic churches for centuries?

St John Lateran, as pictured on the website Simply Catholic. is 'simply Catholic' no longer

Not now. No, the Traditional Latin Mass has been hounded out of St John Lateran just as it has been from churches around the world, to seek refuge in funeral parlours, garages et al. And Jorge Bergoglio permits an heretical rite in its place.

Imagine if, on your pilgrimage of a lifetime, St John Lateran had been scheduled for your Mass that day. Imagine your confusion on encountering a strange liturgy. Imagine your consternation on realising it was an Anglican, heretical liturgy, led by a Freemason whose initiation ceremony involved vowing to keep the "secrets of Freemasonry", being blindfolded, wearing a hangman's noose and  warned that those who break the oaths of allegiance will have their throats slit and their tongues torn out before being buried in the sand.https://www.churchmilitant.com/news/article/anglican-bishop-mass-in-popes-cathedral

Why were Bishop Johnathan Baker and Co, members of the heretical cult of Anglicanism, allowed to desecrate St John Lateran? What were they doing there? Pretending to be Catholic priests as they long to be, but lacking the courage to seek reception into the Church. Imagine the distress caused to men like Dr Taylor Marshall - who came out of the sacristy closet and abandoned his promising career as an Anglican 'priest' to become a humble Catholic layman - at the sight of these pretenders gallivanting in St John Lateran.

Ah. All is explained:

ROME (CNS) — A “breakdown in communication” led to permission being given to a group of Anglican clergy to celebrate the Eucharist in Rome’s Basilica of St. John Lateran, said Auxiliary Bishop Guerino Di Tora of Rome, vicar for the basilica’s chapter. Bishop Di Tora “expresses deep regret for what happened last Tuesday, April 18, inside the Basilica of St. John in Rome. In fact, a group of about 50 priests, accompanied by their bishop, all belonging to the Anglican Communion, celebrated at the main altar of Rome’s cathedral, contravening canonical norms.
Benedictine Father Martin Browne, an official at the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity, noted the apology, but said, “I also think that everyone acted in good faith and without any intent to cause offense or embarrassment to anyone else. That the celebration has caused comment is perhaps, above all else, a reminder of the need to pray continually for the Lord’s gift of unity, so that all may one day celebrate at the same altar the saving mysteries of the one Lord.”

How edifying. How ecumenical. The only way that "all may one day celebrate at the same altar the saving mysteries of the one Lord" is by conversion of all to the one true Church. But omission of this glaringly obvious fact can be slated to the story coming, as it does, from the papolotrous Cindy Wooden at the Tablet which leans so far to the left it's in danger of falling over.

Bergoglio and his apostate hierarchy intend, by degrees, to try to erase the fundamental differences between the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church founded by the Son of God, and the heretical cult of Anglicanism founded by a murderous, adulterous, concubinary monarch, Henry VIII - and all other religions, all of which are false. In fact, Bergoglio is bent on falsifying the Catholic Church.

Since the Second Vatican Council creeping apostasy has allowed "priests, ministers or communities not in full communion with the Catholic Church" the "use of a church" and "also (to) lend them what may be necessary for their services", if they "do not have a place or the liturgical objects necessary for celebrating worthily their religious ceremonies" (Directory for the Application of the Principles and Norms on Ecumenism).

Wouldn't you know it. How kind. How considerate. But it's not as if Bishop Baker (we'll give him the benefit of the doubt, as some of these Anglican prelates and priests have valid, although irregular, orders) had nowhere else to go to do their heretical liturgy. There are two Anglican churches, and a chapel, in Rome, at the Anglican Centre in Rome which in this era of mass apostasy has close relations with the 'Holy' See.

Pope Francis greets Bishop Baker and other would-be Catholics

For the whole story, let's look at Lifesitenews:

Led by a “re-married” Freemason, over 30 Anglican clergymen celebrated “Mass” in the Papal Basilica of St. John Lateran this week, sparking outrage among faithful Catholics.

On April 18, a group of Anglican clergy from the Anglican suffragan Diocese of Fulham, England, were granted permission to celebrate a liturgy in the historic Basilica of St. John Lateran. Led by their bishop, Johnathan Baker of Fulham, over 30 clergymen took part in the event, which was held at the altar of the cathedra in the basilica.

Footage from one of the participants shows the clergymen processing up to the altar, kissing it, and then moving across to the choir stalls. Baker, who has led the Anglican see of Fulham since 2013, can be seen leading the “Mass.”

They'd be Catholics if they had the courage

Baker’s clergy are part of the more conservative Anglican wing — commonly known as Anglo-Catholics. They are marked out by their customary use of more traditional style liturgical vestments, along with somewhat of an adherence to more traditional customs, including a rejection of women’s ordination in the Church of England.

His clergy are currently in Rome for a tri-annual retreat and are based at the Villa Palazzola, which is owned by the Venerable English College (VEC) in Rome — the Catholic seminary for English speakers that dates to 1579.

It is unclear how the Anglican clergymen received permission to use the Catholic basilica for their liturgy.

The Pontifical Council (now Dicastery) for Promoting Christian Unity noted in a 2020 document that “[w]here the diocesan bishop discerns that it will not cause scandal or confusion to the faithful, he may offer other Christian communities the use of a church.”

The Dicastery added that “[p]articular discernment is required in the case of the diocesan cathedral. The Ecumenical Directory (§137) envisages such situations in which a Catholic diocese comes to the aid of another community which is without its own place of worship or liturgical objects to worthily celebrate its ceremonies.”

However, even with this permissive prescription from the Dicastery — which reflects the current trend of promoting unity at the apparent sacrifice of the Catholic faith — the permission for Baker to hold a liturgy in the Basilica is still perplexing.

The Anglicans have their own Anglican Center and a designated church in the city of Rome, thus negating any need to look for another venue to hold a liturgical ceremony. The number of Anglican clergymen was relatively small, around 30, and would have been easily accommodated by the Anglican church in Rome.

Baker a divorced Mason

Baker, while heading a so-called traditional wing of the Anglican church, is in fact a Freemason. Upon his elevation to the Anglican see of Ebbsfleet, Baker’s membership of the Masons became known. He joined the secretive, anti-Catholic group while a student in Oxford.

Baker, speaking in 2011, stated “for many years I have been an active member and I continue to be a member” and rose to serve as an assistant Grand Chaplain.

Days later, he claimed that he had left the Masons in light of his appointment to the see of Ebbsfleet but continued to describe the Masons as “an organization that is wholly supportive of the Church.”

Wholly supportive of the Anglican Church, quite likely.

The Anglican clergyman is also divorced and “re-married,” which caused consternation among more conservative Anglicans at how such an individual was supposed to represent their traditional views.

Anglicans receive warm welcome in Catholic Rome

The Anglican clergymen have, as part of their current retreat in Rome, been warmly welcomed by other Catholic dignitaries. They were addressed at an event by former prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith Cardinal Gerhard Müller, who reportedly “spoke about the need for a robust Christian anthropology in the face of the challenges of post-modernity.”

They were also received at the Venerable English College (VEC), where the rector delivered a lecture to the Anglican clergy in the seminary martyrs’ chapel. This was the chapel in which Catholic seminarians would sing the Te Deum when they heard of one of their former classmates, then ordained, having been martyred at the hands of the Protestants during the centuries of Catholic persecution in England.

We forgive, but we should never forget.

The group then met with the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity and were personally greeted by Pope Francis after his weekly general audience.

But responding to the footage of the Anglican clergymen holding “Mass” in St. John Lateran, prominent liturgist Dr. Peter Kwasniewski slated the decision to grant such permission:

I am not by any means rabidly ‘anti-Anglican.’ Heck, some of my favorite writings of all time are Cardinal Newman’s Parochial and Plain Sermons, about which I will be speaking this Saturday. But it is absolutely inappropriate for the Pope (or someone acting with his clearance) to grant permission to Anglicans to ‘have Mass’ in the Lateran Basilica, the Bishop of Rome’s cathedral, when Rome’s own venerable rite has been hounded out of churches and driven from the side altars of St. Peter’s. Will the absurdity never end?"
