We must refuse vaccination for a virus for which the recovery rate is over 99.9%, and support others in refusing it, because they will need support. And anecdotal evidence of adverse reactions is alarming, especially and unexpectedly, in younger people. Heart attacks, blindness, miscarriages and more. The bishops claim the Pfizer/BioN Tech COVID-19 vaccine has been 'widely tested': Well of course it has, but not nearly as widely, or for as long, as for vaccines in the past. They say COVID-19 is 'deadly for many people': Fear-mongering of the first water. So is taking a ride in the car 'deadly for many people'. 'Protect those who are not able to be vaccinated': they're comparatively protected anyway, just because they are 'not able to be vaccinated'. They're the lucky ones who can produce an excuse not to be vaccinated. 'The greater the number of people who are vaccinated in a community, the higher the degree of protection for those who are vulnerable': Or conversely, the higher the degree of risk from adverse effects. The president of the NZ Bishops' Conference, Bishop Patrick Dunn, is parading his belief in a vaccine procured at the expense of a latterday massacre of the innocents - hundreds of babies were sacrificed, not just one, as the text accompanying the video claims - in the Presence of Jesus Christ Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament.  Be prepared, if 'Bishop Pat's' nice smile pops up on your OHP, to get up and walk out. And it seems that St Mary's Whanganui has already been pressed into service as a vaccination station - with particular emphasis on Maori. Isn't that Nice? Isn't it kind? A middle-aged woman somewhere in NZ was thrown into a tizz today over the Level Two Lockdown performance in Wellington. She has COPD; she's terrified. Obsessed by the thought of running out of food.  "I can't stand it! I can't stand all this Covid thing!" This is a balanced, intelligent woman. Imagine the effect lockdown has on people with mental disease as well as physical. The Catholic Church in New Zealand has turned into a bullyboy. In the nicest possible way, of course. N O Catholics laugh at those who oppose the vaccine. Or call them conspiracy theorists. Or even suggest - as one has, who's thought of as very spiritually advanced and close to God - that remarks ad mulierem about the NZ Prime Minister could be interpreted as going against the spirit of obedience. WOT??? Ad mulierem is taken to mean personal remarks, surely, and as one taught by one's mother never to make personal remarks, one has difficulty remembering any of that sort. Well, perhaps a photo caption once, which suggested that Ardern looked better with a mask than without.  The point is, surely, that as faithful Catholics "We ought to obey God, rather than men (Acts 5:29). And if God's, and the Church's, commandments conflict with a bishop's or with a prime minister's, then it's a pity about the bishop and the prime minister. And it's a pity about the Planned Giving, too.
