"Public Interest Journalism Propaganda has received an $18m boost with the announcement of funding for an additional 110 journalists across New Zealand with “a specific mandate to produce stories that keep New Zealanders informed and engaged, and support a healthy democracy”.

Don’t you just love the Newspeak? War is peace, freedom is slavery, ignorance is strength and Government funding of Journalism supports a healthy democracy.

The funding is the result of the second competitive funding round via NZ On Air’s $55m Public Interest Journalism Fund.

First, in classic commie style, you cripple businesses so they can't afford to advertise. Second, you pay the crippled media, who can't get advertising,  to publish what you want: lies. Third, you pay them even more, to publish more lies, before the sheople wake up. Go Stalinda!

Go a long way - to the UN, to China, wherever you want. Just get out of here.  Please.

[…] Combined with the first funding round, $29m has now been committed to a mix of journalism roles, defined journalism Projects, and Industry Development initiatives.

[…] The performance of the funded roles is measured on content outputs. Funded roles in this round are geographically spread across the country, and will also go some way to address deficits in reporting for specific ethnic communities or issues.

But Julia, we are all getting paid off by the state, we have been for all our lives. The government takes about 50% of GDP, then feeds it back to us if we behave. All social democracies operate this way (define social democracy - a socialist system of government achieved by democratic means).

Look at our Catholic schools, under the Integration Act of 1975. The Act was brought in by Labour because Catholic schools were near financial collapse. The Church now must not upset the flow of hundreds of millions of state dollars into Catholic schools every year, so our hierarchy tows the line. For nearly 50 years now the state has set the curriculum and ethos of our Catholic schools (the Catholic ethos in our schools is almost totally subservient). The result, bishops acquiescent to the state, and our kids leave Catholic school and are rarely seen again at Mass.

Julia, you do well to point out how our media has been bought off, but what's new?
