CANCELLING TRADITION, INSULTING CATHOLICS

self-explanatory

'Traditionis custodes. Guardians of the Tradition', is the title Jorge Mario Bergoglio gives to his motu proprio issued yesterday.

Pardon me? Is this a joke, Your Holiness? Your intention is clearly not to guard tradition but to cancel it - and to insult its adherents, including Our Blessed Mother.

Once again, Bergoglio is leading the Church up the garden path, ever deeper into the darkness of error.

The same day Pope Benedict XVI announced his abdication, lightning struck the Vatican twice.

The sheer quantity of evidence, and the diversity of the confluent evidence sets, is now so utterly overwhelming that I believe that a person, fully informed of the dataset, would have to engage in the willful suspension of disbelief to continue to acknowledge Bergoglio as Roman Pontiff.

That was the highly-regarded blogger, Ann Barnhardt, writing in 2016.  What overwhelming evidence Bergoglio has provided since then - crowned with his evil edict yesterday on the feast of Our Lady of Mt Carmel. What further abuse may his flock look forward to?

Almighty God was on to it, sending lightning on St Peter's the day Pope Benedict announced his resignation, and He was on to it today. Did any of you Novus Ordo Massgoers notice the readings at Mass this morning?

"Woe to the pastors, that destroy and tear the sheep of my pasture, saith the Lord."

"Therefore thus saith the Lord the God of Israel to the pastors that feed my people: You have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold I will visit upon you for the evil of your doings, saith the Lord."

"And I will gather together the remnant of my flock, out of all the lands into which I have cast them out: and I will make them return to their own fields, and they shall increase and be multiplied."

Bergoglio, pretender to the Seat of Peter, you have been warned! The word of the Lord has spoken. Neither you nor your minions can have thought or reflected on the Novus Ordo readings for today, the Sixteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year B - the Sunday following your bound-to-be infamous motu proprio.

By contrast, the texts for the traditional Latin Mass for today (Eighth Sunday after Pentecost and never mind the A B C rigmarole of the Novus Ordo) are full of hope and consolation.

"We have received Thy mercy, O God, in the midst of Thy temple; according to Thy name, O God, so also is Thy praise unto the ends of the earth."

"Be Thou unto me a God, a protector, and a place of refuge, to save me. In Thee, O God, have I hoped: O Lord, let me never be confounded."

"Thou wilt save the humble people, O Lord, and wilt bring down the eyes of the proud; for who is God but Thou, O Lord?"

And just for good measure, the TLM Gospel for today was the "Parable of the unjust steward, reminding us of our duties, for we are the children of light, who must not be outdone by the children of this world in zeal."

Whose side is God on, then? What could be clearer than the comparison of those readings for the N O and the TLM today?

Church Militant says that 'Pope Francis abrogated Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI's historic decree on the the Traditional Latin Mass (TLM) Friday morning" (that's right, the Feast of Our Lady of Mt Carmel), sending seismic shock waves across the Catholic Church.'

Surely it won't be just Latin Massgoers, but most fairminded Novus Ordo Massgoers, who will believe that Pope Francis (sic) has no right to abrogate a predecessor's decree which was founded on traditional Church doctrine.

Bergoglio cites "the distorted use' of this faculty. What 'distorted use', Your Holiness? Do we have to read the whole of your typically longwinded Apostolic WhatYouMay to find out?

At least Bergoglio admits to 'almost unbearable distortions' in celebrating the new missal. Absolutely unbearable distortions, Your Holiness, as attested not only by the many walk-outs worldwide but the many more no-shows, worldwide.

Intelligent people simply cannot bear the horrible songs, the priest's little chats and jokes, the off-handed treatment afforded Almighty God present in the Eucharist, and in New Zealand the Maorification of the POF and responses.

Dr. Joseph Shaw, chairman of the Latin Mass Society of England and Wales told Church Militant that Traditionis Custodes "does not address the foundational claim of SP that the older missal 'has never been abrogated' and that, for this reason, priests do not need permission to celebrate it."

"If this is true ... then the provisions of this motu proprio look legally shaky," Shaw stressed. "It is simply staggering that, in the context of the great fruits of SP (Summorum Pontificum), the Holy Father should create a situation where ... bishops are essentially invited to close it down.

Any New Zealander wanting to observe the fruits of the Traditional Latin Mass should attend at St  Anthony's Wanganui (SSPX) with its school and its bookshop, its Dominican Sisters and pews full of families complete with babies.

St Anthony's Wanganui - a procession in progress?

It seems to be that the banning of the TLM from parish churches is simply unworkable," the Oxford philosopher observed.

The bishops are to ensure that groups already celebrating the TLM "do not deny the validity and the legitimacy of the liturgical reform dictated by Vatican Council II and the Magisterium of the supreme pontiffs."

Ah. The bishops will send in the thought police. Just as well that in New Zealand, Mass Murderess Jacinda Ardern is getting us smiling zombies used to the idea of putting up and shutting up rather than getting banged up for 'hate speech'.

The bishops are to ensure that groups already celebrating the TLM "do not deny the validity and the legitimacy of the liturgical reform dictated by Vatican Council II and the Magisterium of the supreme pontiffs."
The libs don't like ladies wearing veils

Francis warns bishops "to take care not to authorize the establishment of new groups" and instructs that the TLM will have biblical readings "proclaimed in the vernacular language using translations of the Sacred Scripture approved for liturgical use by the respective episcopal conferences."

Oh my God (and for once, OMG is truly a prayer). Imagine the 'translations of the Sacred Scripture' approved by the NZCBC, with te reo inflicted in excruciating Pakeha accents on congregations where Maori are typically nowhere to be seen.

Societies dedicated to the celebration of the TLM like the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter (FSSP) will be transferred to the jurisdiction of the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies for Apostolic Life.

This congregation has recently become notorious for suppressing contemplative orders and forcing them to leave their cloisters for initial and ongoing formation.

"By their fruits you shall know them": the reverence of TLM acolytes is a joy to behold

The responses reveal a situation that preoccupies and saddens me and persuades me of the need to intervene," Francis wrote, defending his decree, and pointing out that the pastoral concerns of his predecessors in liberalizing the TLM were "seriously disregarded."

These magnanimous gestures were "exploited to widen the gaps, reinforce the divergences and encourage disagreements that injure the Church, block her path, and expose her to the peril of division," the pontiff complained.

And there were we, poor fools, thinking all along that it was you, Your Holiness, who were injuring the Church and exposing her to the peril of division. Now we understand that black is white and you are right and we the faithful are wrong, and so say all of us or the bishop will cancel our Mass.

In the June issue of The Traditionalist, Abp. Carlo Maria Viganò wrote: "It is disturbing as well as scandalous that in the face of the good that the Tridentine Mass brings to the Church, there are those who want to ban it or limit its celebration."

"Abusing the apostolic authority and the power of the Holy Keys for a purpose opposed to that for which they were instituted by the Lord represents an unheard-of offense against the Majesty of God and a sin for which he will have to answer to the One whose vicar he is," the Vatican whistleblower wrote in a stinging indictment of Pope Francis.

Predicting the abrogation of SP, Viganò pleaded with faithful Catholics to "prepare to descend into the catacombs".https://www.churchmilitant.com/news/article/francis-abrogates-benedicts-latin-mass-decree

  2. Julia, Fr Z described this as a 'curve ball' from Cardinal Erdo of Hungary.

It is absolutely wonderful. Thank God. Pray for Cardinal Erdo.

You will find it on Fr Z's site and may like to publish it yourself. But in essence, The Primate of Hungary has a letter of privilege which has never been abrogated which means that the Primate of Hungary is free to decide on liturgical matters over the territory of Hungary and all Hungarians. In which case, he will continue to regulate the liturgy according to his own discretion and will continue to provide the Tridentine Mass as has been available since 2007 and in accord with Summorum Pontificum.

    There is hope.

    1. Well that was short lived, Edward Pentin, the National Catholic Register journalist says the posting about Cardinal Erdo is fake.

      Darn.

    Who is he to judge?

    Sharon Crooks:
So true, Philippa - We are to walk with the faithless (divorced/remarried; pro-abortionists; lgbtqaa++) in their ‘Catholic’ spiritual journey, whilst Francis refuses to walk with the TLM faithful in theirs! We are to show kindness and compassion to our brothers and sisters in the catholic faith; we are not to despise part of the flock of Christ, unlike Francis who has no tolerance for his fold of traditional Latin Mass faithful, sending them to be slaughtered 😷

And when did the Pope suddenly become God, that we cannot disagree with him and find him at fault. I see so many posts saying do not query what the Pope says or does. This is not Catholic. This is not of the Holy Ghost. This actually just shows that the structure of the church is not working. That he could give such power to Bishops - who often are pressured by liberal priests in their diocese.

    I say:
Philippa as I'm sure you know in the Palmerston North Diocese we have an ultra-liberal, Fr Joe Grayland, whom many regard as the de facto bishop, given that we are without a bishop because Bergoglio is too busy making anti-Catholic pronouncements to appoint bishops - which is his chief duty.

Went to a Mass in Feilding and it was noted by a parishioner that in 15 years or so the parish won't exist... I could not argue with her. Told her all about the huge growth in the TLM... so now she will be thinking to herself.. why has Pope Francis done this?

    1. I say: Because he's in the business of demolishing the Catholic Church and replacing her with a counterfeit. And Vatican II's Novus Ordo has done so well at assisting, its effect is N O Catholics are largely deaf, dumb and blind to what he's up to. tthe hur

Yep ... just what I said ... your religion is dying ... now you're both seeing it yourselves ...

      Philippa O'Neill:
Sadly Paul you understand none of this. The TLM parishes are bursting at the seams. Lots and lots of kids and vocations. God be with you Paul.

      Paul Young:
Philippa ... yep but the kids won't stick around for long once they start thinking for themselves ...

    5. Paul Young:... we're certainly not producing them in NZ from scratch ... to my best knowldge they're predominantly imports much like nurses ...

Yes Pip ... and you will no doubt go on to reason that the fewer who end up believing it, the truer it must be ... conversely of course, there was a time when only a handful of people believed the world was round ... but discovery and enlightenment have changed that forever ... in the same way, realization and enlightenment is putting paid to religious beliefs forever in developed and educated countries ... third world countries will follow when developed and enlightened ... the trend is predictable and consistant ...

He (Bergoglio) needs to guide properly those catholics who think killing babies is ok. What happened to catholic church that so many believe this. The catholic church for many many years was at the forefront of the prolife movement. What has happened. I know, people have lost the fear of God love being in tneir sin a d have no idea of who God is.

  8. Justine Vollert: Sharon Crooks, whats TLM?

I say:TLM is the Traditional Latin Mass, aka the Mass of Ages, aka the Mass of all time, which was the ONLY Mass up until Vatican II fabricated the Novus Ordo.

    Justine Vollert:
Julia thanks i realised that after i posted it. Latin mass is a divisive isdue in the church. I have lived under both. The Latin mass to me was more Holy. Had a sense of mystery about it. More reverened inwould say. I made my first holy communion under the Latin Mass but was confirmed under the english Mass. Things were a lot more reverened with Latin. I did Latin for a year at high school. Very interesting language quite easy to learn

    Philippa O'Neill:
Justine I found it (the TLM)3 years ago and felt totally at home. I didn't learn any Latin.

  9. Bob Gill: Apart from a response to Pope Francis’ clampdown on the Traditional Mass by Bishop Emeritus Peter Cullinane in CathNews, I have seen no response from any NZ bishop on the subject or an indication being given as to what is likely to be allowed in each diocese. In contrast, some US bishops, like Bishop Anthony Taylor of Little Rock and Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone of San Francisco, are indicating the direction they will be taking.

  11. Given that the NO is rooted hermeneutically in the TLM or put another way, Vat 2 is embedded in Vat 1, there has not been a rupture or discontinuity (hermeneutically speaking) within the Catholic Church. To do away with the TLM as though there was a pre and post ‘era’ would, it seems, to deny that our approach to Christ truly lies deeply embedded within the mystery of the Most Holy Sacrament of the Eucharist.
To give power to bishops to deny Latin Mass goers an approach to Christ which is in union with the entire deposit of faith would seem as though some ‘right’ is being given to ‘create’ disunity or discontinuity, which up to this point in the Church’s 2000 plus year history has not previously EVER been given.
There is no alternative ‘reality’ to being ‘Catholic’ than to acknowledge unity in so far as the NO does not exist objectively outside its embedded-ness within the TLM, just like Vat2 cannot exist as though cut off from prior Councils; they are inseparable. It would seem therefore that the NO cannot objectively exist if cut off from the Mass of the ages.
In doing what he has, the question must therefore be asked: is Pope Francis attempting to fulfil what he prophesied: he would be the first Pope in all history to cause a schism? To dislodge the NO from its roots, would be by its very ‘act’ at least, an attempt to potentiate a schism irrespective of our subjective orientation towards either the NO or the TLM; it’s an objective matter, not a subjective one!
Whilst Pope Francis has embedded analysis at the level of the subjective (the fruits borne in one’s life), not the objective level, he seemingly is attempting to conceal the objective nature of the problem, thus conceal the true level at which the discussion should be orientated.
Bishops lacking the skills to objectively ‘position’ the NO in relation to the TLM will fall prey to subjective analysis, ending up effectively doing the dirty work of potentiating a schism. Better to let the TLM die a natural death, if it is not the work of the Holy Spirit! Sound scripturally ‘familiar’?
