Fr James Altman, the American priest who had the inspiring courage to speak out in the US election campaign against the Democrats - against the evils of socialism - has been sacked.
What's truly chilling about suspension of his priestly faculties is that he's 'invited to begin' a month-long 'spiritual retreat' to help him 'spiritually heal' and 'address the issues that caused the issuance of this decree.'
Brainwashing. Having thrown Fr Altman under a bus, that's what his bishop has in mind for him now.
Fr Altman's suspension means he is not allowed to celebrate the Eucharist with anyone present but his elderly parents (thank God for elderly parents!)
What upset Bishop William J Callahan was his video "You cannot be a Catholic and a Democrat. Period", which went viral last year.

If only some Kiwi priest had made a video. "You cannot be a Catholic and Labour" would surely have 'gone viral' and quite possibly have meant New Zealand would not now be enduring wholesale massacre of the unborn, mass medication for what amounts to a bad flu and the threat of being hunted down if we don't comply and take the jab. (Come and get us, Mr Hipkins!)
+Callahan first asked Fr Altman to resign in May for being 'divisive and ineffective'. 'Ineffective'? The one thing Fr Altman clearly is not, is 'ineffective'. When belief in the Eucharist has shrivelled to 20% of Catholics, surely it's the majority of US bishops and priests (like New Zealand's) who are 'ineffective'.

Bishop Joseph Strickland of Tyler, Texas has publicly endorsed Altman's message. In a Sept. 5 tweet, Strickland humbly and clearly wrote: "As the Bishop of Tyler I endorse Fr Altman's statement in this video. My shame is that it has taken me so long. Thank you Fr Altman for your COURAGE. If you love Jesus & His Church & this nation ... please HEED THIS MESSAGE."

In late April, Altman chided the U.S. bishops for needlessly shutting churches and denying the faithful sacraments during the COVID-19 pandemic, saying the hierarchy showed “an abundance of cowardice.”

And while we're on the subject of denying people the Bread of Life, let's consider the people of the Cathedral Parish of Palmerston North, of Our Lady of Lourdes PN, and Foxton - actually anyone who attends Masses celebrated by Fr Joe Grayland, who's known to deny the dogma of Transubstantiation and who promotes priestly ordination for women.
So as far as commonsense and a modicum of intelligence can take us, it seems his Masses are quite likely not valid Masses, that Fr Grayland cannot be confecting the Eucharist and what you're queueing for at Fr Grayland's Masses could well be bits of bread.
What are the grounds for saying that?
There are 250 infallibly declared Dogmas of the Catholic Church. Iin order to be a Catholic, you must believe all of them.
No 90 states: "The Sacrament of Orders can be validly received by a baptised person of the male sex only. "
'Any bishop, priest or lay person who dismisses this infallible dogma, informally excommunicates him/herself. And any pope who departs from or dismisses any one of these Dogmas de facto invalidates himself as pope."

Gerard I take exception to your comment. The Roman Catholic Church is the only authentic Church of Jesus Christ. It is the ONLY Church Jesus founded. Christian denominations were all founded by men, and not very saintly men at that. You are mistaking the Catholic Church with sinful and evil-doing so-called members of the Catholic Church. Out of 12 Apostles Jesus had His Judas, there are many Judas' today in the Church, and going all the way up to the top. I have great faith, hope and confidence that Jesus will sort all this out in His time. Remember, what we are going through now is predicted in Scripture.

I am well read in Scripture, I hear it also every time I go to Mass and I receive what I hear and read through the authentic lens of Catholic interpretation, the authority of the Church. I know this is upsetting for you but the Catholic Church gave us the Bible. ReplyDeleteI have studied extensively catholic theology , dogmatic theology and doctrine liturgy sacred scripture and philosphy ancient church history middle ages and modern church history. I got a diploma in catholic theology from the Xavier insutute, a catholic theoligical college in Sydney Australia. Just let me say this that protestentism wasnt necessarily man made. It was founded from some heresy of the church. The churches early church history to muddle ages leaces much to be desired.there was a time of two popes whcih brought much dision to the church and the rewriting some of the " laws around the papacy marriage of the clergy ect. So some things werent biblical they were changed to address some sordid sins. I credit the church for the person i am today for the mora. Compass which my life has bee governed by (sic).

A famous 19th century convert, once an Anglican priest and later a Catholic Cardinal, and now Saint John Henry Newman lost all his family and friends with his conversion. He famously said 'To be deep in history is to cease to be protestant.' Another very famous US protestant to Catholic convert of today is Doctor Scott Hahn. He was a leading protestant scholar/theologian and Presbyterian minister who was driven to study and prove for himself that Catholicism was wrong, in the process he converted with his whole family. The price for him was his livelihood and friends. He is now a world renowned Catholic apologist. Your very salvation depends on you getting this right. Be humble in your search for truth. Look again with an open mind and pray with an open heart. I wish you well.

They do so not out of Christian love but for some other reason.
