"I think she's done a good job."
Really. Let's examine that reasoning, given by some who say they're Catholics for voting Labour in Election 2020.
So COVID seems to be conquered. So she saved your skin - at enormous financial cost to your children and grandchildren. So she put on a hajib and hugged Moslems. What else?
According to many international columnists - whom she didn't buy off with a $50 million grant - she's made a literally bloody mess.
"Ardern ... has just about eradicated Covid-19. She has navigated the politics of the virus so well she stands on the brink of electoral triumph."
What that means is that she smiled and talked and hugged and bribed the media with $50million and the 'useful idiots' mobbing her in malls are ever so grateful they won't die just yet.
"...She has still been a poor Prime Minister, elected almost by accident.
Pretty much by Winston Peters actually, but to give him his due (reluctantly) unlike his female MPs - Tracey Martin, Minister for just-about-everything to do with kids and their grandparents - and Jenny Marcroft, Peters did vote against Ardern's abortion law. But if Ardern wins tomorrow and this country along with its unborn children is consigned to the slag heap, Peters more than any other single individual should be held responsible.
"... (U)nder the Byzantine protocols of her country's eccentric electoral system, ... she won far fewer votes than the National government she replaced," Greg Sheridan, of The Australian wrote.
"Even on Covid-19, the Ardern government has done much less than it seems and at much greater cost than other countries have paid. There are other countries whose governments have even better records of eradicating Covid-19. ... Fiji with 32 cases, Solomon Islands with two cases and Vanuatu with none. Their leaders are not worldwide media sensations yet they got those numbers for the same reasons as New Zealand. They are isolated island nations.
"... Ardern('s)... list of undelivered election promises is staggering: 100,000 affordable homes promised, 600 built; homelessness to be eradicated, it increased; zero carbon emissions by 2050, emissions went up; reduce child poverty, it went up; regional public service emphasis, more public servants based in Wellington than before; light rail from Auckland airport to CBD, abandoned. But then came the virus and she could do her high priestess of the woke religion stuff, day after day.
"Validated by a swooning international media, unchallenged by a tepid and under-resourced..."
And bribed and unprincipled and incompetent
... "local media, she has sold the narrative that her government has saved NZ. "No international halo is so shabby, or so fraudulent, as that worn by New Zealand Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern."

And that's without giving any consideration to the most important issue: the right to life.
Sheridan's prediction for the Election NZ 2020 outcome is the same as Karl du Fresne's. If these two commentators are proved right, what do the useful idiots who vote for Labour, and the rest who vote for Labour-lite aka National, and the kamikaze Greens, the dead-in-the-water NZ Lasters, the Act-like-you're-God supporters and those who vote for good, in the shape of a party with Christian principles, have to look forward to?
Du Fresne explains in his blog on Wednesday:
... There will be nothing to stand in the way of a re-energised neo-Marxist agenda.
... We have already had a foretaste in the form of one of the world’s most permissive abortion regimes and the proposal to legalise cannabis. Expect much more under a re-invigorated and unrestrained Ardern government, starting with laws to curb so-called “hate speech”.
... The government is likely to crack down on any speech regarded as offensive by members of supposedly vulnerable minority groups. Egged on by provocateurs in the media, an Ardern government might decide not only to lower the threshold at which speech is considered harmful, but to extend protection to other groups demanding special treatment – for example, trans-gender people.
New Zealand media routinely stigmatises groups such as the New Conservatives as “far right” but never attaches equivalent labels to parties on the far left such as the Greens.
... In the 1950s and '60s ... New Zealand Marxists ... scoffed at claims of communist influence by ridiculing fears of “reds under the bed” (to which Catholic trade unionist Tony Neary, who staunchly resisted communist infiltration of the union movement, riposted that the Reds were sitting up in bed and having breakfast brought in).
Neo-Marxism has now extended its influence far beyond universities, reaching deep into government, schools, the media, the arts and even the churches.
In particular, the Catholic Church. Vide:
- The pope's denunciation of capitalism in Evangelii Gaudium, part of which could have been written by Marx himself
- The hyper-sensitivity shown to US BLM rioters by Cardinal John Dew, who condemned an "All Lives Matter" sign at a Masterton Church.
- The Te Kupenga – Catholic Theological College lecturer Dr Rocio Figueroa, who espoused Liberation Theology at a Napier conference in October.
Pope Pius X: "Religious socialism, Christian socialism are contradictory terms, for no one can be, at the same time, a good Catholic and a true socialist."
Pope Pius XII: His "Decree Against Communism" excommunicated all Catholics collaborating with or voting for communist organizations.
Bear in mind the Communist manifesto:"Communists everywhere support every revolutionary movement against the existing social and political order of things.
"The result," du Fresne continues, "is a society that is losing confidence in itself, which is precisely the neo-Marxists’ aim – because a society that has lost confidence in itself is easier to intimidate and control.
"Expect more agitation for separate institutional arrangements for Maori, ... more unilateral adoption of Maori place names (fine, but let’s do it by referendum), more condemnation of supposed white privilege and white supremacy, more hysteria over so-called cultural appropriation, more humiliating, Salem-style public denunciations (accompanied by mandatory attendance at “cultural competency” courses) of people who refuse to toe approved ideological lines, more pressure on companies to pander to exaggerated minority sensitivities (and grovelling apologies when they are perceived to have fallen short), more politicisation of the police, more judicial activism by courts incorporating tikanga (Maori custom) in common law, more virtue-signalling by academics and writers who proclaim themselves as socialists (and therefore unashamedly align themselves with a sorry history of tyranny, repression and economic ruin), more arrogant interference with people's freedoms by activist groups such as Extinction Rebellion, more social media bullying of dissenters and more instances of “cancel culture”, where organisations are intimidated into abandoning legitimate speaking engagements for fear of disruption.
"... It’s only slightly melodramatic to say there’s a battle going on for the heart and soul of the country, but there has been little hint of this other than in New Conservatives billboards calling for free speech. National, the party that supposedly represents mainstream conservative values and therefore should be manning the barricades against the neo-Marxist takeover, is timidly tip-toeing around it and pretending not to see it, possibly because it’s terrified of incurring media antagonism."

Yes. "Crusher" Collins competing against Jacinderella in the Niceness Stakes has not been a pretty sight.
And I apologise if this is blog is getting to War and Peace proportions but I have to point out finally that Ardern's government is now seeking to suppress Family First, who've so staunchly stood up for the traditional family and opposed abortion and euthanasia.
The 'Hon' David Parker, Attorney General, has appealed to the Supreme Court against the recent decision of the Court of Appeal to uphold its charity status withdrawn by the Charities Commission and upheld by the High Court in August 2018.

Even though She made her appeal for prayer and consecration of Russia to Her Immaculate Heart way back in 1917, it's never too late to turn to Our Lady of Fatima.
Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us now and at the hour of our death.

ReplyDeleteIt hasn’t happened yet!.....election results I mean.
It will definitely be a different result to what media polls displayed
I say:
Yes, I said "if the polls are proved right".
Krauss Miles says:
I have read "my" Saul Alinsky. NC all the way.
Monica Devine says:
ReplyDeleteJulia don't give your vote to NC, you are too smart to do that. It's basically a vote for a strong Labour Greens coalition. Do you really want that?
Stella McLeod says:
Monica,I’m really hoping enough of the “don’t know/won’t say” voters will vote NC and get them into parliament.
Monica Devine says:
Stella, it would be lovely but it won't happen. Much more likely zero NC MPs and two less good National MPs bc the people who should have been voting for them (bc they 'voted' for the unborn) voted NC instead thus ensuring a Labour/Greens coalition with a decent majority to enable them to entrench marxism into our statute books. I just had a PM from Hilary Kieft (One Party candidate) and she is doing the same. Voting National for Party Vote. There is no other path as far as I am concerned and while I respect your freedom I think you are very wrong on this one.It is highly unlikely that National will govern alone or with just Act’s support. If NC manage to get some MPs then at least we would have one or more new MPs with family values. I’m really hoping enough of the “don’t know/won’t say” vote… and she is doing the same. Voting National for Party Vote. There is no other path as far as I am concerned and while I respect your freedom I think you are very wrong on this one.
Justine Vollert says:
ReplyDeleteVote for righteousness not for socialism. A wasted vote is only wasted if you vote for someone who doesn't support your values.
Sue O'Neill says:
Shame the NC lot cant see they enable the status quo, dont moan you put them back in
Monica, if every NZ Christian who in the past voted National, or any other party, now voted by faith in God, New Conservative would bolt in. I refuse to compromise my Catholic faith by voting for evil in the shape of a party which elected a babykiller as leader. National will get my vote for their Wairarapa candidate who’s pro-life, to help prevent the seat going Labour after being fed so many government subsidies.
ReplyDeleteIn this situation being ‘smart’ just doesn’t cut it. ”I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children” (Mt 11:25).
Janet Curran says:
ReplyDeleteStella, no show. You know it. I know it.
Janet Curran adds:
ReplyDeleteIt might make you feel good but you will have emabled the status quo.
Janet Curran adds:
ReplyDeleteThose who have not used their intelligence wisely will have helped to ensure a stronger pro-abortion Parliament that will do nothing to help the unborn.. To be honest, I can't get over the complete stupidity of those who have not used strategy. I read a comment from Karl du Fresne that he has voted often for that party that we least want and I think therein lies the problem that some are reluctant to go against what they have done in years past for the greater good. No good complaining after the fact when things get worse as you had a chance to do something but pride got in your way.
Monica Devine says:
pie in the sky and dreaming
Teresa Coles says:
It is crazy, they have had the billboards out all the time everyone has been voting, what’s the point..
I say:
ReplyDeleteJanet, can you please reference Karl du Fresne's comment that 'he has voted often for that party that we least want', etc? If you're implying that my family are Labour voters, come off it. My parents might have voted for Michael Savage but as far back as I can remember they voted 'for the man, not the party' - and the man had to be Christian.
I met my husband at a Junior National Party meeting; he was front runner for selection for National in Pahiatua; he ran for National in the Hastings electorate in '81 and then for the National Party presidency. He had my full support but now I thank God he lost.
Well I'm sorry but however inconvenient it may be, I voted for Labour. Not just this election but several others over the years.

ReplyDeleteI totally agree (with Sue O'Neill). I won't accept any moaning from enablers who have helped the status quo. I will point it out to them every time.
