A TALE OF TWO CARDINALS, ONE KIWI, ONE POLISH

The world crucified Christ, the Redeemer of mankind. Insane, as we Christians admit. But we do not recognise that same insanity, masked as Covid-19, which is now crucifying His Church.

It's worst manifestation, on the second day of lockdown, was apparent in the following communication to his flock from New Zealand's head shepherd, Cardinal John Atcherley Dew:

"If a priest is called to attend to the sick at home, this must be done by phone or electronic means such as video call rather than by home visit.

Technically it is the words and the oil, not the anointing touch that is the matter and form of the sacrament.”

"However, the risk of transmitting the virus by the proximity of the anointer and anointed (closer than one metre) means this is outside the regulations for social/physical distancing."

Our shepherds have abandoned their flock.

New Zealand’s bishops have fallen victim to coronaphobia, for which there is no known cure but Jesus Christ our Lord.

This insanity is the predictable result of putting man in the place of God - anthropocentrism - as we have done for 50 years, in the Novus Ordo (New Mass), where the priest stands in front of the Lord in the tabernacle, looking at his people - and his people look at the priest.

And to make matters worse, the priest - or 'ministers' - hand out the Body of our crucified Lord as if it were what it looks like - a wafer of bread - instead of placing it reverently on the 'lap' of the tongue as they would if they only recognised What they dare to hold between finger and thumb.

In most of the Catholic world, frozen with fear by the 'Virus', the Church has fallen into the grave error of insisting on Communion in the hand in the mistaken belief that it's more 'sanitary'.

Well, dear cardinals, bishops and priests:don't talk Communion on the hand to Archbishop Jan Pawel of Poland, or you're likely to have your head ripped off at the knees.

+Pawel is one holy, angry, prelate. He reviles priests and bishops in this matter for stupidity and ignorance of Church history.

"They have no respect for the Most Blessed Sacrament and they force the faithful to violate their conscience. Poles don't want to take Communion in the hand standing up, like the degenerate Western world. It's an excuse to break people's conscience.

"These priests and bishops must stop (Communion in the hand) or they'll end up in Hell.

"Plagues did not stop people going to Church. Where are the bishops? Where are the cardinals? All hidden. They have left their poor people alone.

"Look at the doctors and nurses! Fighting and dying on the frontline! The priests have run away. They want to live long. Where are the Church hierarchy, usually so self-confident and important? All hidden away. They've become administrators.

"Don't just mindlessly listen to the Government! Be creative! Think out of the box!

"You are an old priest, an old bishop. You are going to die soon, and you are still afraid of death? Sacrifice yourself for the people! Communion must be received internally, not just virtually.

"They are well-stocked and have multiple parishioners waiting on them hand and foot, making sure the bishop doesn't lose weight.

"There is panicked fear everywhere, instead of fear of God, of Judgment Day, of God's punishment which will come!

'The Cardinals are hiding away. If you try to tell them something bold they say, "That is too harsh! Who will listen to you?"

"They said the same things to Christ. They don't want to listen to the truth because they live in a different paradigm. It's a disaster!

"Gentlemen, bend your knees! Let us pray for the Church."

Knowing that the Palmerston North diocese abandoned us BEFORE lock-down in jumping the gun on the Ministry of Health recommendations and especially on the Feast of the Annunciation, I challenge anything they and Cardinal Dew are now saying - and will always seek an alternative to anything they suggest.
    With that in mind, I have just emailed the Ministry of Health the following;
".....What happens, though, if a person is dying and wishes to receive the Blessed Sacrament before dying? If both priest and sick person have a measured normal temperature, can we assume it is safe for the priest to distribute the Host to the sick?"
Note that I haven't considered, at this stage, if the sick person has the Coronavirus.

Our SSPX priests in Wanganui have given us contact details if in urgent need of Sacraments, are livestreaming Masses and we are getting regular email newsletters. Also our Legion of Mary are doing a great job of checking up on everyone :)

Thanks for that, Melinda. I hadn't forgotten about the wonderful SSPX, who are a such a credit to Him. Just how far afield can the priests travel in New Zealand, though, with their limited number of priests?
I find Cardinal Dew a bit defeatist at times and find he's not exactly one to think outside the box to give the best to the Catholics of New Zealand.

Adelie Reid Our novo order priests here are live streaming mass and we have their phone numbers and they have said if required they will come... we are being spiritually looked after with regular emails with reflections and prayers and life streamed stations of cross etc...

  2. I can't help but think that this virus panic was planted by those who want to close down most parishes and were meeting with some opposition.

    Philippa,“be kind” 😂.

    Philippa O'Neill says:

Yeah... be especially kind as you ignore all those slaughtered babies... I mean... like sure that's got to be a plus for our environment, said the young enlightened Catholic.

    Souls are in danger.

    Helen Carver says:
Plague killed a huge proportion of the population because of ignorance

    I say:

Ignorance in regard to bodily health, perhaps. But with such saintly priests, bishops (St Charles Borromeo) and popes, and simple faith, they were much wiser than we about the health of the soul and so in far less danger of an eternity in Hell.

  6. World Youth Day 2008 in Sydney. We had Dew give one of the teachings where I was staying, he talked about social justice, he talked about it without once connecting it to the Church and Christ.

I found out afterwards that it was supposed to have been a talk on Evangilisation - Dew, you failed.

I am totally confused, I must admit. I am not too naive to think that just because we pray or believe in God we won't get sick or die by someone else's hand (gun or modern day weapon - the car!) - but this complete turning one's back on the congregation in its hour of need....?
It's not what the Faithful 'signed up for' when they committed themselves to their beliefs. The whole thing is 'communion' - the 'community ' of the people who congregate together. They are rudderless and leaderless...
