This is electrifying. At last a traditionalist Catholic congregation - the Sons of the Most Holy Redeemer (FSSR) - has found its voice of conscience and courage and declared, trenchantly and unambiguously, that the Emperor in the Vatican has no clothes.
Although Leo XIV is charitably not named, he and Francis/Bergoglio and the homoheretical hierarchy are revealed by the Holy Sons to be clothed not in Christ, but in indifferentism and disobedience to God.
The Sons confirm the obvious: the conciliar, Novus Ordo, post-Bergoglian Synodal sect squatting in the Vatican is a new religion, invented by Vatican II revolutionaries to supplant the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church with a global church tailored to meet the requirements of Davos Inc.
This blog has already chronicled the shameful expulsion of the FSSR from the Diocese of Christchurch, New Zealand by Bishop Michael Gielen, with back-up from the Vatican - but without giving any reason - on the strength of a media campaign orchestrated by a hard-left, disaffected ex-Catholic. https://juliadufresne.blogspot.com/2024/10/bishop-gielen-never-read-romes-report.html
Thank God for the Holy Sons, who give fresh heart to faithful Catholics sick of shillyshallying and prevarication in the Catholic commentariat, especially in Trad Inc, and who've longed to hear out loud the truth about the conciliar Church and especially Leo's occupancy of the See of Peter.
The Sons of the Most Holy Redeemer have monasteries on the island of Papa Stronsay in the North Sea and in Christchurch, NZ. They were granted canonical recognition as a clerical institute of diocesan right by the Bishop of Aberdeen in 2012, when they numbered only fifteen. Small and remote as they are, they could be called by faithful Catholics "The Mouse that Roared".
| Sons of the Most Holy Redeemer |
(LifeSiteNews) — The Sons of the Most Holy Redeemer, a traditionalist Catholic congregation based on Papa Stronsay in Scotland, have issued an open letter “to the Catholic Bishops, Priests, Religious and Faithful” following their General Chapter.
The community – often called the “Transalpine Redemptorists” – was founded by Father Michael Mary Sim in 1987 under the auspices of Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre and the Society of St. Pius X, at the encouragement of Cardinal Édouard Gagnon. It was reconciled with the Vatican in 2012 and has operations in the U.S. and New Zealand.
In July 2024, the Redemptorists were ordered to leave the Diocese of Christchurch within 24 hours by Bishop Michael Gielen. The community denied accusations made by Gielen and took canonical action against the eviction notice.
The open letter does not indicate whether they now intend to return to working with the Society of St Pius X or will pursue another course. The statement and its introduction are below.
This story is developing.
You can say that again ...
An Open Letter to the Catholic Bishops, Priests, Religious and Faithful
Dear Catholic Soul,
We have just concluded our General Chapter where we considered our Congregation and its vocation in the Church and in the Diocese of Christchurch, New Zealand where the Bishop had decreed its expulsion.
The attached letter expresses the convictions of our Congregation.
This is not a task we embrace lightly. We have considered the array of possible punishments that the hierarchy may use against us – all mentally terrifying really, yet buttressed in the knowledge that the hierarchy has broken with the chain of command, which renders it human, and spiritually null.
But when Our Lord’s honour is at stake, silence becomes a form of betrayal. We therefore take up this work with trembling hearts but with firm conviction, desiring only to defend the Holy Name of Jesus Christ and the purity of His Spouse, the Church.
“Every one therefore that shall confess Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father Who is in Heaven. But he that shall deny Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father Who is in Heaven.”
(Matt. 10:32)

CONGREGATION OF THE SONS OF THE MOST HOLY REDEEMER
TRANSALPINE REDEMPTORISTS
Open Letter to the Catholic Bishops, Priests, Religious and Faithful
from the General Chapter
of the
Congregation of the Sons of the Most Holy Redeemer
Being held in Papa Stronsay, Scotland
St Therese of the Child Jesus, 3rd October – St Gerard Majella 16th October, 2025
Dear Faithful,
Live Jesus our love and Mary our hope!
It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that we write to you. What unites us is our great love for our Holy Mother, the Catholic Church and Bride of Jesus Christ, for whom the martyrs shed their blood and the saints gave their lives. It is this love that forces us to express a truth that is difficult, however essential. (Lk. 12: 4-9),
Just like you, we too have cherished great hope for many years. We believed it was possible to live as faithful children of the Tradition within the structures of the modern Church. We believed that the old and beautiful traditions of our Faith, in particular the Latin Mass of all times, would be rightfully returned to us.
This gave us hope, especially during the time of Benedict XVI. We confidently expected that we would be able to freely practise the Faith of our Fathers in the Church. We didn’t know how wrong we were!
Through years of trials and experience we have come to the unfortunate conclusion that the Traditional Catholic Faith, the Faith of all times and of the saints, is incompatible with the new, modern Church, the fruit of the Second Vatican Council. They simply cannot coexist in one body.
Since we deeply cherish and honour the Traditional Latin Mass and cannot give up the Holy Mass of the centuries and of the saints, this new Church does not want us. Because of our fidelity, we have been considered stubborn, difficult and rebellious; stitched up and lied about in never-ending acrimony.
This letter appeals to all who sense that something is tremendously wrong in the Church or who think that the new Church and the unchanging Faith can peacefully coexist. Alas! Allow us to state the sad truth that our experience clearly shows this to be impossible. Surely this new Church would shock all the holy Popes who declared time and again that Religious Indifferentism is a very great evil, absolutely incompatible with the Catholic Faith.
We tell you, we will not be complicit by silence in this ongoing destruction of the Church. We must speak up at some time and what better time than now? After 17 years as a community within the structures of the Church, we have been continually isolated and harassed.
More especially these last years the Bishop of Christchurch has made us to be as the offscouring or scum of the earth. By his numerous Decrees and recourse to Rome he has sought to expel our monks from the diocese. He wants to have fifteen local vocations perpetually exiled from their families and homeland.
| The FSSR Oratory in Christchurch closed by Bishop Michael Gielen |
We tell you now, higher duty forbids it. So long as there is but one soul that asks us for the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, the Sacraments or spiritual help, with God’s grace we will not desert it. The Good Shepherd urges us to lay down our lives for His sheep and keep the hungry wolf at bay. It is our duty in charity, in theology and by Canon Law.
Why? Because the chain of command has been broken. Authority in the Church is ministerial (serving Our Lord), not absolute (doing whatever it likes): it binds us because it is itself bound to Christ, to the deposit of the Faith, to the constant Magisterium.
When a superior departs from his own obedience to Christ the King, his command is no longer the arm of Christ but the gesture of a man. (S.T., IIa IIæ, q. 104, a. 5) These churchmen disobey God. And then, having shattered the chain of God’s command they attempt to invoke religious obedience for matters that deplete the Church, and take away the Holy Mass.
Tolle Missam, Tolle Ecclesiam – Take away the Mass, you destroy the Church (Luther). No! We must obey God before Man.
And therefore, cleaving with might and main to our deep communion with our Holy Mother the Church, our duty before our Lord Jesus Christ and towards souls demands that:
We repudiate Amoris Laetitia permitting Holy Communion to couples living in sin.
We repudiate Traditionis Custodes’ persecution of the Mass and Catholics.
We repudiate Fiducia Supplicans permitting the blessing of same-sex couples.
We repudiate “The Document on Human Fraternity” stating that God wills all religions.
We repudiate the false theology of “sister churches” and “partial communion”.
We repudiate the false shepherds who triumphantly processed the Pachamama idol in St Peter’s.
We repudiate Francis apologising for the heroic Catholic who threw that idol into the Tiber.
We repudiate the scourge of religious indifference in New Zealand and throughout the Church.
We repudiate the New Zealand Bishops’ acts of closing churches, and denying the sacraments in cowardly submission to the Covid-19 oppression.
We repudiate the Bishop of Christchurch receiving his ashes on Ash Wednesday from the Anglican bishop of Christchurch.
We repudiate the corruption of children, and scandal given to the innocent through evil catechetical programs.
We repudiate Francis teaching that all religions are as different languages, and asking “Is my God more important than yours?”
We repudiate the silence of those bishops who failed to speak out against that betrayal of the Faith.
That is - as in the 4th century Arian heresy - the overwhelming majority of bishops.
We repudiate the Synodal Church as distinct from the Divinely constituted Catholic Church.
We repudiate the ongoing destruction and humiliation of our Holy Mother the Church.
We repudiate those who attack or undermine the Church in her dogma, morals, sacraments, or discipline with a new cult of man.
To all who read this: How long will all this nonsense go on?
Whatever may be the cost to us, with the Apostle we must say: Anathema!
“But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach a gospel to you besides that which we have preached to you, let him be anathema. As we said before, so now I say again: If any one preach to you a gospel, besides that which you have received, let him be anathema.” (Gal. 1:8-9)
Do not remain silent! Defend the Faith of our Fathers!
“Although all nations obey King Antiochus, so as to depart every man from the law of his father and consent to his commandments: I and my sons and my brethren will obey the law of our fathers.” (1 Maccabees 2:19-20),
“On the contrary, it is written (Acts 5:29): We ought to obey God rather than men. Now sometimes the things commanded by a superior are against God. Therefore, superiors are not to be obeyed in all things.” — St. Thomas Aquinas (S.T., IIa IIæ, q. 104, a. 5).
Expecta Dominum, Viriliter Age et Confortetur cor tuum.
Expect the Lord, do manfully, and let thy heart take courage. (Ps 26:14).
Gaude, Maria Virgo… Rejoice, O Virgin Mary; thou alone hast crushed all heresies in the whole world.

ReplyDeleteI’m sure a right of reply is provided for the “hard-left disaffected ex-Catholic” I would like to hear this story from their perspective!
Pauline Chalmers Paddy Gower's doco on the Holy Sons has already amply demonstrated the hard-left disaffected ex-Catholic perspective.

ReplyDeleteI have no use for these phonies.
The letter from this community omits several facts. The bishop of CHCH had an Australian bishop investigate the community. It was not just the local ordinary working alone. There was more than one complainant. The community was well accomodated in CHCH until they decided not to play by the rules. Their missive is an attempt to deflect any blame from themselves.
ReplyDeleteThe monks played by all the rules. Complied with all the investigations by the Bishop and Australian Apostolic Visitator sent by Rome. None of the monks was found to be guilty of a single civil nor canonical crime. They played by all the rules.
DeleteI am glad they finally realised that this is not even a question of just the TLM, but a question of faith. Rome has lost the faith long time ago.
It was the Vatican who sent that retired Australian bishop to make an Apostolic Visitation.
DeleteThe FSSR can safely assume that everyone reading their open letter knows how many complainants there were. For more of the facts go here: https://juliadufresne.blogspot.com/2025/08/leo-accused-of-cover-up-nz-trad-order.html
And I assume that by not playing "by the rules" you mean they refused to abide by a manifestly unjust decision. Thank God that His Church has at least one traditionalist community with the courage to defend their Mother against the wolves of the Vatican.
Not playing by the rules means sexual grooming and illicit exorcisms.

DeleteAnyone who thinks the FSSR could be guilty of sexual grooming and illicit exorcisms needs to watch this interview of Fr Michael Mary Sim by American web broadcaster Stephen Kokx. It's absolutely a breath of fresh air. Https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AwWh4VRKNJI

ReplyDeletethe TLM around the world!
This open letter from FSSR is a tragedy for the true Church, but the truth is inevitable. If Bishop Gielen and Rome had acted with less ineptitude this could have been avoided. The dirty washing of the Church is again laid bare.
ReplyDeleteBishop Gielen and Rome took savage action against FSSR, ordering them to depart Christchurch diocese. Yes, they have the authority, but not without giving an adequate explanation. Authority without accountability is dictatorship. In the absence of an adequate explanation, we have to assume there isn’t one, other than the desire to annihilate all Catholics who are faithful to the teachings of Jesus Christ, to make way for a ‘new synodal church’ that is not faithful to the teachings of Jesus Christ.
This whole episode has a stench that is intolerable.
In regard to Rome that word 'intolerable' occurs to me frequently. And yet 'good Catholics' continue to tolerate its blasphemies.
DeleteSedevacantism is the proper solution to this situation. In embracing the sedevacantist position, you are properly resisting the heretical post-Vatican II heresiarchs. It is a fact of history that Angelo Roncalli is a papal infiltrator and usurper who set in motion the "New Pentecost" which is the Apostate Second Vatican Council. Joseph Ratzinger in creating the Motu Mass did it with the intention of eventually merging both the Novus Ordo and the Roncalli-Rite of 1962. The Motu situation was not meant to last forever. I believe, the Motu situation deceived many people into staying in the Novus Ordo structure. Groups like the FSSP, ICKSP and others like it are just sideshows in the Novus Ordo religion; you have a side altar to have your liturgy, and you have to respect and tolerate the abuses of the Novus Ordo. By being in communion with Mister Robert Prevost, you yourself are also complicit in all his heresies and the heresies of the Vatican II Church. If you can find a sedevacantist church in your area, I highly suggest you go and seek refuge. If you are not able to, attempt and make contact with groups like the CMRI.

ReplyDeleteDo not speak wickedness against any Priest or Pope. May God have mercy on you. Pray for the Pope & Clergy. God will punish those who speak recklessly.
Lea Saint Michael it is not wickedness to speak the truth whether it be a priest or the Pope himself if they are teaching or spreading errors anything that is contrary to the deposit of faith that was taught
ReplyDeleteup and until Vatican II Council which has been used to usurp and upend the truth and replace it. Pope Francis even said himself that it is not the same religion that used to be.
they have to be called out of course with charity. We must obey God before man. “There is no need to create another church, but to create a different church,’” Pope Francis says before synod on synodality
DeleteLyn Wade Yes it is. The actual language of the post was extremely inappropriate. Pray for the clergy & Pope do not support wicked language against them.
DeleteLyn Wade Padre Pio emphasized the importance of respecting the authority of the Church, suggesting that those who speak badly against the pope and priests should remember that God's will is reflected in the Church's leadership. He believed that enduring such trials could be a form of redemptive suffering.
DeleteLea Saint Michael yes and I absolutely of course agree with Saint Padre Pio but also calling out heresy is important to when it’s been propagated and the faithful of being scandalous so many no longer know what the Catholic Church actually teaches any more but definitely we can offer it up as redemptive suffering for sure
DeleteLyn Wade Do you believe God is pleased with you or anyone including the author of this post that used the wicked words "homoheretical hierarchy". This is extremely wicked language. May God have mercy. Use proper discernment.
DeleteLea Saint Michael I never used those words
DeleteLyn Wade You endorsed this post 📫 that used those exact words. To which I said to you, this is WICKEDNESS.
DeleteLea Saint Michael I did not endorse the post except to say it is not wicked to call out when priests or the pope himself scandalise the faithful by promulgating error
DeleteLyn Wade Yes you did. If you didn't then..why are you bothering to like this post & sit here going back & forth because I called it wicked? Those words are literally the 3rd sentence of the post, "homoheretical hierarchy". Is extremely wicked language.
DeleteLea Saint Michael I am praying for you to wake up this conciliar church is the antichurch.
How much worse does it need to get before you are convinced?
DeleteLea Saint Michael - I Pray for Pope Leo and for the Church every day.
There is NOTHING wicked or reckless about the truth. 🙏🏼😢🙏🏼
