| Christ Giving the Keys of the Kingdom to St. Peter (Perugino, Sistine Chapel) |
"Extra Ecclesiam Nulla Salus: outside the Church there is no salvation."
That eternal truth has been proclaimed through the centuries by the Catholic Church - until the Second Vatican Council revolutionaries buried it as a stumbling block to their globalist, New World Church of Nice. But as truth it remains true today that Christ gave all grace to His Mystical Body, the Church, and no grace is given to humanity except through her.
Just over a week before he was assassinated, Charlie Kirk told Bishop Joseph Brennan of Fresno, California, that he was "this close" to entering the Catholic Church. He said Protestants and Evangelicals under-venerate Mary. "She was a vessel for our Lord and Saviour. One of the ways that we fix toxic feminism in America is that Mary is the solution.”
What stopped Kirk from professing faith in the Church of Rome was +Francis - and his successor, +Leo: he recognised them as Marxists who by definition are alien to Christ and His Gospel.
Kirk's assassination polarized the Christian world, mesmerising and dividing it. Hundreds of thousands of Catholics publicly prayed for his soul, that he might be granted salvation. They were joined by shocked and grieving Christians of Protestant denominations who believed his faith alone had saved him. At the same time, hatred for Charlie Kirk and his Catholic wife Erika was spewed over the media, spurring spontaneous affirmation of good, and recoil from evil.
Carpe diem! When millions around the world are confronted with that visceral choice between God and His ancient enemy, Satan, the Catholic Church must seize the moment and speak the truth, in the media and from pulpits everywhere: "outside the Church there is no salvation".
However. The counterfeit, Ape Church - the conciliar, Novus Ordo, post-Bergoglio Synodal sect currently installed in the Vatican - has fallen into the heresies of modernism and indifferentism. +Francis infamously claimed that "all religions are paths to God" - which according to Pope Gregory XVI in Mirari Vos, is a "perverse opinion ... spread by the fraud of the wicked who claim that it is possible to obtain the eternal salvation of the soul by the profession of any kind of religion, as long as morality is maintained".
+Leo XVI has failed to correct the +Francis "fraud". And while Kirk's grieving widow Erika proclaimed Christ to the nations at his funeral, the Bishop of Rome and the Bishop’s Conference of his own country shamefully hid in silence. It's very evident then, that the faithful "remnant" (Rom 9,27) - the small number of the children of Israel who will be converted and saved - must take up the slack, and define and proclaim this Church doctrine which before Vatican II was straightforward, but post-conciliar is a train-wreck of expanded meanings and reinterpretation by virtue of the new collegiality.
And what d'you know, right on cue, up pops 'Michael' who for reasons of his employment must be anonymous, to give a cogent explanation (below) of Extra Ecclesiam Nulla Salus:
The Church exists in Heaven, in Purgatory, and for now, on Earth - the Church Triumphant, The Church Suffering, and the Church Militant.
The Church is not a NGO or a nation state in Italy. The Church is Jesus Christ and those people who belong to Him. The word "catholic" comes from the Greek word καθολικός (katholikos) meaning “regarding the whole” or, said another way, the full Truth - all of it.
Everyone in Heaven can be said to be Catholic because they have already attained the beatific vision. They are with God and therefore they know the whole truth. Likewise, those in Purgatory have had their personal judgement and have been judged by Jesus Christ, The High Priest and King of His nation.
Ergo, there is no salvation outside the Church, which is Jesus Christ and the people who belong to Him. All who are allowed by Christ to pass through the Gate, which is Himself, are in His Church. There is no other gate into heaven. A person must be in the Church in order to belong to Christ. Hence, “Outside the Church there is no salvation.”
There are those people who formally belong to the visible Church on Earth, i.e. they are baptised and, if over the age of reason, confirmed into the Catholic Church.
But the Catholic Church has always taught that "nothing else is needed to obtain justification than an act of perfect charity and of contrition. Whoever under the impulse of actual grace elicits these acts receives immediately the gift of sanctifying grace, and is numbered among the children of God” (Fr George Hayward Joyce SJ (1864-1943))
So it is possible, even in today’s world, to die and be in the Church by desire, but not to be formally members of the Church Militant. There have been martyrs who died without being baptised with water, but who desired to belong to Christ, and were killed because of their love for Christ (see the 40 Martyrs of Sebaste, 320AD).
And Charlie Kirk. How many thousands, or perhaps more, of good people have been prevented from formally entering the ark of salvation that is the Catholic Church by their instinctive antipathy towards +Francis and his suave, anodyne successor, +Leo?
However, anyone who knows that Jesus Christ is God, and that He wants all men to belong to His Church, who then rejects some or all of the Truth also rejects Christ, and is thus outside the Church.
That would include those people sitting in the pews on Sunday who deny any aspect of the Faith, and Protestants.
Cardinal Gerhard Müller has posited that “Charlie Kirk was the victim of an atheistic ideology, whose followers erupted in satanic celebration over the heinous murder of an exemplary husband and family man. The devil always takes possession of those who hate life and truth.” Citing Scripture, +Müller added, “For, according to the words of the Lord Jesus Christ, the devil is a ‘murderer from the beginning’ and the ‘father of lies’ (John 8:44). And "only those who hear the words of God are of God"(cf. John 8:47).
Men and women of truly good will (i.e. God's will) are saved in their religion (whether it be Protestantism, Islam, Animism, whatever) but not by that religion: they are saved only by God's One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church.
Which means that Catholics and Protestants who sit in the pews on Sundays - or Muslims who put their forehead to the ground 5 times every day - but deny any aspect of God's will as defined by His Church (like the sinfulness of contraception or abortion), will not be saved without repentance and conversion of heart.
Our Lord Himself said to the Jews of His day, “If you do not believe that I am He [the Messiah], you will die in your sins” (John 8:24). If you believe that Christ is the Messiah you will be saved by Him not in any of the thousands of man-made religions but by baptism of desire into the Church founded by the Son of God on the "rock" of Peter.
“One cannot have [salvation] except in the Catholic Church. Outside the Catholic Church one can have everything except salvation. One can have honor, one can have the sacraments, one can sing alleluia, one can answer Amen, one can have the Gospel, one can have faith in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and preach, but never can one find salvation except in the Catholic Church” (St Augustine –Sermon to the People of the Church of Caesarea, Chapter 6).
