At St Monica's Ottawa, Canada's PM Mark Carney commits public sacrilege

Yet another 'high profile Catholic politician' - Canadian PM Mark Carney - commits sacrilege by receiving Holy Communion in a state of mortal sin due to 'unreservedly' supporting abortion. Like Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi. To faithful Catholics that's distressing, but it's nothing new.

What is new about Carney's public sacrilege in Ottawa is that he had the gall to receive the Sacrament after sitting through a blistering sermon from a young priest on the Ten Commandments and the breaking of same, and the penalty earned: eternity in hell. After receiving (rather than face the priest at the door at the end of Mass) Carney walked out. If he'd been run over by a bus and killed, and hadn't had the presence of mind to make an act of perfect contrition, hell is where he'd be now. And for ever more.

Less than a week later Canadian Catholic Bishops' President, +William McGrattan, declared that pro-abortion politicians should not be given Communion. Deo gratias.

Like the millions of Novus Ordo Catholics throughout the world for half a century, Mark Carney has never heard read at Mass this dreadful warning: Therefore whosoever shall eat this bread, or drink of the chalice of the Lord unworthily, shall be guilty of the Body and of the Blood of the Lord"(I Cor 11). 'Unworthily' meaning, unto one's damnation. But N O confessionals are pretty well empty. Does their ignorance excuse people and priests from repentance?

At the Traditional Latin Mass that chilling verse is heard at least 3 times every year. It explains the confessional pewsful in TLM parishes, which in turn explains their vibrant faith and fervour. They are "full of grace".

On Holy Thursday - on the night that Christ instituted the Most Holy Sacrament of the Eucharist - faithful Catholics on their bendeds before the Altar of Repose could pray for Carney, and for all who've forgotten (if they ever knew) that grace is necessary for the forgiveness of sins.

The head of Canada’s Catholic bishops has backed refusing Holy Communion to pro-abortion politicians in the context of Prime Minister Mark Carney’s reception of the Eucharist last week.

In an April 11 interview with the Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN), Bishop William McGrattan, the president of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops, declared that pro-abortion politicians should not be given Holy Communion, less than a week after Carney received the Eucharist at an Ottawa parish.

“I would say that someone who is in politics and claims to be living according to their faith and making such statements, we see the disconnect, and this is unfortunate with many of our politicians,” he said.

The EWTN reporter questioned if this would include pro-abortion Carney, who was seen receiving Holy Communion on a parish live stream last Sunday.

McGrattan explained that the decision to deny someone Holy Communion ultimately lies with the person’s local bishop, who in this case is Marcel Damphousse, archbishop of Ottawa-Cornwall.

“I think that those pastoral decisions would have to be made by the local bishop,” he said.

“Those are decisions, obviously, that affect the life of the local Church and, therefore, you know, if it is in [regard to] a very challenging, scandalous position, I think, then, that is the responsibility of the bishop, in a pastoral way, to confront and to challenge various politicians in that way,” McGrattan said.

As LifeSiteNews previously reported, last Sunday, Carney, who calls himself Catholic despite “unreservedly” supporting abortion, was seen receiving Communion at St. Monica’s Parish in Ottawa.

Providentially, during the sermon, the priest condemned abortion as “murder,” reminded those in attendance that aiding or encouraging abortion is mortally sinful, and urged parishioners to remember that there is “never a reason to receive Holy Communion” if “we’ve ever fallen into mortal sin” until being absolved of sin in Confession.

Ordained in 2023, Fr El-Nachev is one of the new wave of young, conservative priests

Earlier in his sermon, El-Nachef described how mortal sins cut a person off from receiving God’s grace.

“If we’ve ever fallen into mortal sin, there’s never a reason to receive Holy Communion,” he declared. “We always, always, always have to go to Confession first.”

Regardless of this warning, Carney can be seen approaching the altar and receiving Communion. Interestingly, at this point, Carney decided not to return to his pew and left the church.

According to the Vatican’s current Code of Canon Law, “Those who have been excommunicated or interdicted after the imposition or declaration of the penalty and others obstinately persevering in manifest grave sin are not to be admitted to holy Communion.

The last category, “others obstinately persevering in manifest grave sin,” refers to those have publicly persisted in a state of grave sin, such as unmarried couples living together, homosexual “couples,” and pro-abortion politicians.

During his short time in Canadian politics, Carney has made sure that voters are aware of his pro-abortion platform. Late last month, a reporter asked Carney, “Prime Minister Carney, you are a practicing Catholic. You attended church before you visited the governor general this morning. Do you explicitly support a woman’s right to choose [to kill her unborn child], and how will your faith impact your policy deliberations should you win this election?”

Carney, before the reporter even finished the question, replied, “absolutely.”

“Thank you for the question,” he added. “I wouldn’t have drawn attention to the fact that I went to church, but thank you for noting it. I absolutely support a woman’s right to choose [abortion], unreservedly, and I will defend it as the Liberal Party has defended it: proudly and consistently.”

Glad to hear the Canadian Bishop's president spoke out against politicians receiving the Holy Eucharist while promoting abortion.

  3. He should have been denied Holy Communion. They say Biden's handlers had to call ahead when he traveled and wanted to go to Mass...to ask if the Priest would give him Holy Communion...

    2. Seoirsín Nic Uilliam and Mary Jo Horn, are you saying we should close our eyes to public sacrilege? Ven Fulton Sheen would not agree. He said it's not bishops or priests who will save the Church; it's up to us, the lay people.

  7. Pray that politicians - Canada's, New Zealand's and in the US realize and pass laws, and executive orders, recognizing that life begins instantly at conception, and thus you are a human being from that instant, and therefore have all the rights of a human being from that instant. That those rights are granted by God.
Abortion, for any reason and in any form, is thus first degree premeditated murder and illegal. And that euthanasia is thus also first degree premeditated murder.

Donna White So we should standby while someone is doing something abhorrently wrong?

    2. Donna White I'm sorry, but that's the sort of mentality that allows Francis to get away literally with murder (as in, praising Italy's most celebrated illegal abortionist,. Emma Bonino, as 'one of Italy's forgotten greats" ).
And how can anyone who loves our Lord stay silent when He is abused and dishonoured in the Most Holy Eucharist, especially by a prime minister and a self-proclaimed Catholic who should be giving Canadians a good example?
One shudders to think of the millions of 'Catholics' in Communion queues all around the world who from ignorance or laziness are liewise committing sacrilege, and if unrepentant earning hell fire.

    1. Bekezela Gwebu to comment on public sacrilege is not to cast any stone. It's not punishing the offender - that is God's province. It's a warning to others not to commit the same sin. Especially in the case of a politician, the facts of the matter should be made clear so that his electorate is informed and vote accordingly.

Seoirsín Nic Uilliam Anyone who supports abortion is automatically self excommunicated (latae sententiae) and priests are to deny them communion until they repent. This was done several times with Biden etc. by faithful priests...

    1. Seoirsín Nic Uilliam God expects Catholics to judge between good and evil. That's implicit in all the Commandments. And He expects us to discharge the duty of fraternal correction which is especially important in regard to politicians, especially those like Carney who are running for office. Or would you prefer voters to remain in ignorance in regard to his pro-aborion stance and his abuse of Our Lord in the Eucharist?

  16. That's the problem with the Catholic view on communion. It isn't salvation. Saying holy Mary's don't get you right with Jesus. You can bribe Jesus with good works. Putting your trust in Jesus and following him will build your relationship with him means his grace will set you free. As Jesus said its by our fruits people will know we are his disciples. When Jesus broke the bread and shared the wine he said do this in remembrance of me not it will save you.

    1. The problem with the Protestant view of 'the bread and wine' is the word of God, by which that view is utterly contradicted.
"Then Jesus said to them: Amen, amen I say unto you: Except you eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, you shall not have life in you" (Jn 6:54).
Our Lord literally spells it out: if we do not eat His "flesh" we will not be saved. Failure to understand such a simple, clear instruction can be attributed only to the deception of Satan.
