Bergoglio and Benedict - sometimes the mask slips |
Tut tut: certain NZ bishops. it seems, are a burr under the saddle of Bishop 'Emeritus' Peter Cullinane - who still apparently believes that Antipope Bergoglio is pope and that he and sundry bishops have the power to abolish the Latin Mass.
Two things: Bergoglio is not the pope, Benedict is; and they have no such power.
Oh, and another thing: +Cullinane seems to have no understanding of the text "That they all may be one, as thou, Father, in me, and I in thee; that they also may be one in us" (Jn 17:21).
Jesus wasn't praying for coercion, for the kind of totalitarianism exhibited by Bergoglio and his bishops in forcing the faithful to accept a death-dealing, gene altering serum concocted from the remains of murdered infants.
Our Lord was praying that all souls might be transformed by prayer (in time principally by the Traditional Latin Mass, by its silence, its reverence, its sense of awe) and the grace of contemplation the TLM engenders, transformation into "other Christs" (alteri Christi).
That, your Excellency, is how "the world" will believe it was the Father who sent Christ, not by bullying the faithful into submitting, in false obedience, to a wicked despot and his minions who are determined to cancel the one means by which the world can be saved: the Traditional Latin Mass.
Certainly the world will not believe by the never-ending scandals of this sham pontificate - its approval and admission to Holy Communion (a sacrilege) of pseudo-Catholic politicians like babykillers Biden and Pelosi and its bestowal of favours on LGBTQ prelates like the loathsome Cardinal Cupich of Chicago whose very name (Blase) the Catholic philosopher Alice von Hildebrand says means sin, the sin of boredom.
Do you, your Excellency, have any idea of the dislike, not to say loathing, that many good Protestants now have for 'Pope Francis'? Not having the Sacrifice of the Mass - even in its greatly enfeebled Novus Ordo form - to sanctify them, Protestants rely on Scripture and catechesis and - unlike Novus Ordo-ites who get next to nothing of that and instead are belaboured by bishops on standing versus kneeling and "the most beautiful thing this side of heaven" versus a casual free-for-all - good Protestants know a phony pope when they see one.
In John 1:43-46, when Philip and Nathaniel "signed on", as you put it, your Excellency, they experienced Christ Himself, He Who has been deliberately obscured in the 21st century Church by men of ill will who make it their business to ensure that Jesus is no longer evident among us. That's why they invented the Novus Ordo and cancelled the Latin Mass, the Mass of Ages which for centuries made saints, priests, and converts to the Faith.
Bishop 'Emeritus' Peter Cullinane - like Antipope Bergoglio whom even the National Catholic Register now admits is NOT the pope - parades something he calls 'unity' as an excuse for trampling underfoot the priceless treasure of the Mass of Ages.
As a reader of this blog reminds us, this is the same Bishop Cullinane who years ago tirelessly toured his Diocese of Palmerston North, cajoling and confusing the faithful in an attempt to force us all to stand for the Eucharistic Prayer. Sadly, such is the power of a bishop to persuade, that when the priest calls Almighty God down onto the table which Vat II iconoclasts ever so 'umbly insisted was good enough for Christ to die on, as He does in the August Sacrifice of the Mass, many misguided NO Massgoers still stand, rather rudely preventing those kneeling behind from seeing the Host elevated (sort of) at the Consecration.
Bp Cullinane is "sure there are some adherents of the Traditional Latin Mass (TLM) who think of the TLM as a kind of harmless pluralism". Bp Cullinane is only exposing his ignorance of the TLM and its adherents, or perhaps his wilful deceit. The TLM adherents who attended his 'catecheses' at St Columba's Ashhurst, to whom Bp Cullinane assures us he "listened", gave absolutely no evidence of being harmless pluralists. Rather, they were gunning for him. With passion.
His Excellency evidently realises this. He's exercised by "an un-Catholic disregard for the Council itself .... a Council that has been explicitly endorsed by every Pope since." Ah ... that's not saying a great deal. Bring back Pius V, we say!
"Those of us who have tried to explain the reasons for Pope Francis' Decree have been met by hard-line opposition ... not to mention derogatory attitudes towards Pope Francis himself, and disregard for his role. ... The protagonists ... are taking their cue from websites emanating from the USA." Not, note, from any blogsite in New Zealand. His Excellency would not wish to draw attention to that.

Christ among the Pharisees Jacob Jordaens |
Your Excellency, Jesus Christ Our Lord and Master was Himself heard to express 'hard-line opposition' and 'derogatory attitudes'. He called the Pharisees (notorious hypocrites) and Sadducees (free-thinkers) a "brood of vipers" (Mt 3:7). Notorious hypocrites and free-thinkers abound in the Church today.
Bp Cullinane reckons Pope John Paul lI and Pope Benedict allowed the 1962 Missal "as a concession to special needs". Get it? Like, Latin Massgoers are decrepit or handicapped. Or both. Bp Cullinane talks about the Council (Vat II) and its "serious reasons for renewing the liturgy". You bet it had serious reasons. Like running the Catholic Church into the ground.
"It (Vat II) would have contradicted its own intentions if it had intended the existence of a revised Missal and an unrevised Missal "in parallel," as if the renewal were merely optional."
Your Excellency, who can say what the Council's 'intentions' were? Did their 'intentions' matter? Did the Council intend that Mass be all of a sudden celebrated in the vernacular? If it did, it didn't say so. Did it intend for all the altars to be ripped out? It didn't say so. Did it intend for priests to celebrate Mass on a table with their backs to Our Lord in the tabernacle?
Maybe not. But the loopholes were there in the Council documents (none of which, being merely pastoral, is binding); loopholes big enough to drive a Trojan horse and cart through.
Yes the Council, having employed the Freemason Bugnini to write the Novus Ordo with the help of some good Proddies, probably did intend all and exactly that. But it didn't say so. +Cullinane quotes Pope Paul VI as saying that "the revised Missal is the former Missal, in an enriched form". One needs only to follow the Novus Ordo with the 1962 Missal to realise that statement is risible to the extent that it borders on falsehood.
"Many Catholics (read TLM Catholics)," says +Cullinane, "became stuck in a childhood understanding of the faith" ... Opportunities for adult learning about the faith were not usually available."
You can say that again, your Excellency. They were certainly not available from the average pulpit on a Sunday morning, not after the pre-Vat II generation of priests had died. That's the Novus Ordo effect, your Excellency. One of them. It's arrested spiritual development, manifested by ignorance of the power of contemplation, the pursuit of perfection, of becoming alteri Christi.
The truth is that the Latin Mass was NEVER ABROGATED and no one on earth has the power to abrogate it. The truth is also that a Latin Mass congregation typically is bursting with life, rows of families, babies galore and THAT IS EXACTLY WHY Bishop Cullinane, Cardinal John Dew, Cardinal Cupich and their ilk want to shut it down.
The Traditional Latin Mass is the future for the Catholic Church. Without the TLM, there will be no future. Without the TLM the future would belong to the New World Order Church and the AntiChrist of whom the Antipope Bergoglio, doing the bidding of his global puppetmasters, is the forerunner.
One disagrees with a despot at one's peril, but in this issue the New Zealand bishops have right, and Christ - and numbers - on their side. None of them might ever get a cardinal's hat, like Dew did (and he certainly didn't get where he is today by disagreeing with despots), but they can hardly all be sacked.
