ST PATRICK'S TAUPO REVISITED WITH POTATO CRISPS

No, that's not Communion: it's an ad for a potato crisp

UK Catholics are now being subjected to blasphemous ads for potato crisps, given by a 'priest' from a 'chalice' to 'nuns' who receive the crisp on the tongue. It's the latest insult to Christ the King Who is enthroned in faithful Catholic hearts - but almost certainly not the last insult and, we may fear, not the ultimate.

It's ironic is it not, that the more the Francis church opens up to the world, the more the world despises the Church. But the reality is that the indefectible, Mystical Spouse of Christ is immune to the jeers that the world just can't stop hurling at her - and only at her; never at Islam, or Judaism, or Hinduism. Because the insults are inspired by the father of lies, the devil himself, who doesn't bother his ugly head about other religions.

And it has to be said: the Francis church invites this ignominy by celebrating a Mass invented by Annibal Bugnini, who seriously and historically was claimed to be a Freemason, with the help of half a dozen Protestants, and by allowing the Body of Christ to be handed out like crisps or lollies by women in trousers, and taken in the hand, standing, with maybe a nod of recognition to Christ the King.

Paul VI with 6 Protestant theologians, part of the commission charged with writing the New Mass, invited by Paul VI to make sure nothing in the NO would shock their heresy. It's not surprising that the resulting Mass has the flavor of Protestantism, which means the taste of heresy.

In a large church like St Patrick's Tongariro (Taupō) which last Sunday was full and where the Sacrament of Penance is offered just once a week on a Saturday morning, the question also arises of the worthiness of the congregants to receive Communion. Were all those who received Holy Communion last Sunday in a state of grace?

Given the level of catechesis in Monsignor Trevor Murray's homily, would all those communicants have known what it means to be in a state of grace and that if they'd committed any serious sin they were adding to that the sin of sacrilege, and that if they died on the way home they'd have condemned themselves to hell for ever and ever?

It seems that Monsignor Murray was "very upset" by last Sunday's post on this blog, 'ST PATRICK'S TAUPO - SO LIKE CRANMER'S 'MASSE' ' https://juliadufresne.blogspot.com/2024/04/st-patricks-taupo-and-cranmers-masse.html

But souls and their salvation are more important than feelings and the frightful fact of the matter is that their eternal loss isn't likely just at St Patrick's but at any number of Novus Ordo parishes up and down New Zealand. St Patrick's looks very busy and works hard at 'community'; it's obviously signed on with a new initiative called 'Divine Renovation' whose 'mission' was headlined in NZ Catholic (March 16) as: "Parish renewal message relevant and urgent no matter how you practise your faith".

Ah - isn't it 'how you practise your faith' that's relevant and urgent? And haven't NZ Catholics seen this 'parish renewal' renewed umpteen times by now? Doesn't something just curl up and die within you when you hear it repeated every few years? NZ Catholics are in desperate need of the Traditional Latin Mass to teach us how to practise our faith by preaching the truths of the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church.

A St Patrick's parishioner sprang to the defence of the 'outrageous criticisms' made on this page in ST PATRICK'S TAUPO - SO LIKE CRANMER'S 'MASSE'. Loyalty is a beautiful virtue but the crux of the matter is, to whom do we owe our loyalty if not to Christ our Sovereign King, who is so belittled and betrayed in the Novus Ordo Mass? Hence the reply made to our indignant parishioner which is published below.

From St Patrick's website:

BELONG

TO OUR PARISH FAMILY

“Most people today neither join, stay or leave a Church because of belief or doctrine… but because of a sense of belonging, because of community.”

- Divine Renovation Pg 139

We are intentional about:

Ensuring everyone is seen, known, heard and loved

The first intention of any parish family, especially of the parish priest's, must be that Almighty God is seen, known, heard and loved. 'Everyone' else comes second. That's the order God Himself laid out in His Ten Commandments. The First (surprise, surprise!) comes before the Second.

The Novus Ordo is man-centred rather than God-centred, and that's why it has failed so spectacularly in fulfilling the Great Commission: Going therefore, teach ye all nations; baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and behold I am with you all days, even to the consummation of the world (Mt 28, 18-20). Jesus is with His Church to the extent that she fulfills that Commission.

I was surprised to receive your email, but not surprised that you identify as “a loyal Parishioner of St Patrick’s Taupo”. I knew you were that.

I’m sorry Monsignor Hughes is upset but I can’t apologise for the blog post. It simply stated some aspects of the Novus Ordo Missae (‘New Mass’) in general and St Patrick’s in particular as being par for the course. (My own parish NO is much the same as St Patrick’s.)

It was created by Annibal Bugnini, seriously and historically claimed to be a Freemason, and a committee which included several Protestants. It is man-centred rather than God-centred. It turns the unbloody re-enactment of the Lord’s Sacrifice on Calvary into a meal which very closely resembles the Anglican Communion service, celebrated on a table instead of an altar, with the priest facing the people instead of the Lord.

I’ve been away from the Novus Ordo for many months now. My confessor told me to attend only the Traditional Latin Mass because the N O would be bad for my faith. I went last Sunday because, very sadly, the Latin Mass isn’t available in your area, and after the TLM I found the St Patrick’s experience very jarring.

Just the visuals, even. The Latin Mass has an accepted dress code. Women and girls wear skirts to below the knee and chapel veils or hats, covering their heads as Catholic women did for millennia as a sign of reverence for the Real Presence of Christ. Men and boys at the Latin Mass dress pretty formally: lots of collars and ties. Nearly all adults and many children use hand missals. And there are so many babies and toddlers!

At St Anthony’s Wanganui for example, there are three Sunday Masses, the 9 a m being a Sung High Mass, with choir and organ. The church is full for every one of those Masses. No one talks in church, not even toddlers. Of course a baby cries every now and then and is taken outside, usually by its Dad.

That’s another thing: the Latin Mass is very masculine. So many men and boys of all ages, and at the High Mass 8 to a dozen altar boys, some very young, and all doing precisely the right thing at the right time, throughout. The sermon is always 10 minutes at least of Catholic doctrine and Gospel teaching: real food for the soul.

I used to be a ‘Eucharistic Minister’ in my parish. I always felt out of place; I did it because it was thought more were needed, not because I wanted to. It wasn’t very long before I felt I had to resign (I also resigned as lector). I came to understand that women have no place in the sanctuary but more importantly, I discovered that the Church teaches no one may touch the Sacred Host but the priest whose hands are consecrated. The only ‘Eucharistic Minister’ is the priest.

If you read only NZ Catholic and Welcom you may not know that the title ‘usurper pope’ is widely applied to Francis. There are cogent arguments made for the illegal manner of his election to the papacy which given his MO and his ambiguities, obfuscations and downright heresies - such as declaring the death penalty to be wrong – go a long way towards explaining the devastation of the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church during his pontificate. You know – the parishes amalgamated, churches closed, Mass attendance plummeting, planned giving ditto, vocations to the priesthood and religious life dwindling away to nothing; all greatly assisted ever since Vatican II by the Novus Ordo effect. “By their fruits you shall know them.”

Perhaps I shouldn’t have used the adjective “histrionic”. That's just Monsignor Murray’s personal style. Perhaps I should copy and paste for you a comment on that blog post, received yesterday. You can check it on the blog, but to save you time:

Monsignor Murray parish priest of Taupo has always been a law unto himself (as his parishioners will say) and his Masses are not representative of the majority of NO Masses in Hamilton which are very reverent, with many people kneeling for Holy Communion, women wearing veils and often parts of the Mass sung in Latin.

All parishes (but Taupo) the parishioners kneel from the Sanctus through to the great Amen, which was adopted by the Bishops Conference as the norm for the Catholic Church in New Zealand, although not adhered to in Palmerston North or in Taupo by a couple of renegades: Bishop Emeritus Cullinane and Mons Trevor Murray.

I’ve been praying for the Mons and will continue to include him daily in my Rosary for the cleansing of the Church - pope, cardinals, bishops, priests and laity.

With love

God bless you

Julia

  1. I think I stay fairly aware of what goes on in the Church, maybe even very aware. However, just this morning I have read several posts that are just so abominable, terrible in their sacrilege and blasphemy, that it is mind-boggling. Come, Lord Jesus, with a Divine intervention ! 🛐
