Emotions ran high this past week. Some of us allowed
ourselves to feel hopeful that the judiciary would act heroically. We
visualised a judgment throwing caution to the wind by finding that
the Government
acted illegally and that the Covid vaccine rollout
could be paused.
Our dreams were half-realised.
The Judge agreed that the Government was behaving illegally –
but tripped up over the rollout issue, sticking to the script that we
combat Covid at all costs. Even when those costs include enrolling every Kiwi over 16
in an experimental jab with a sub-standard injury reporting system and
zero information about long-term safety.
It didn't feel particularly heroic. Especially when the
Government did what it seems to do best right now and tyrannically changed the law
to suit them the very next day.
Courage and heroism come in all shapes and sizes.
We're feeling incredibly grateful for
the heroes that call out the fudging, assumptions and flat out lies –
and hang in there despite the personal cost.
Dr Simon Thornley and Dr Alison Goodwin consistently
stand up and speak out for a balanced, honest, and respectful Covid
response. Not only do they have guts, but they also have great ideas about how to protect
the vulnerable without destroying our way of life.
They both bravely stood up to be expert witnesses in the
recent Court action that found the Government's behaviour lacking. And,
regrettably, they've both been the focus of unwarranted hit-pieces in
the media this week.
When the going gets tough, and we feel disheartened that
the Government can (and does) behave unconscionably, it might be
tempting to throw in the towel. There's a place between being ignored and being
heard that feels painful.
We're there now.
The derision, ridicule and mocking are constant. Those
feeling threatened dance around the issues, refuse to engage with the
facts and avoid proper debate. The slurs and name-calling are like
something out of a playground.
We're well past being ignored and
smack in the centre of what feels like "toddler-response
zone".
But, the last thing we should do now is give up. Yes,
it's hard. Some days it's horrible. And, it'll probably get more
difficult. But, we
are strong, and we can do this – together.
It's the "together" bit
that's important.
A handful of people putting themselves in the firing
line is not going to save us. A few thousand people marching up
Auckland's Queen Street is not going to save us. A few legal cases,
even when we win, is not going to save us.
Only when a much
larger group of New Zealanders stand together and
say no, will we change the terrifying course we are on.
Our priority right now is to grow –
so big that the number of people willing to stand up for freedom
is in the
hundreds of thousands. And to do that, we need you, our thousands
of local heroes, to stand up and speak out.
It's urgent that you get out of your comfort
zone. We need you to ask questions, rock the boat,
say no, and help us find everyone who feels like you do.
We know that heaps of you are already standing up and
speaking out. You're
our local heroes, staying firm and persevering in the face of
obstacles.
You tell us you're speaking to friends, family and
co-workers. You've quit having "quiet" conversations, and
you're talking in a normal voice and asking questions like we should be
able to. You're refusing to feel the odd one out and have stopped
acting like your opinions are taboo.
Some of you are chatting with strangers and finding you
have more in common than you realise. You're giving them Voices for
Freedom flyers and directing them to our website to join a local
group and
grab a Covid Response
Survival Kit.
Imagine for a moment that we all
stood up and spoke with a handful of people.
We might ask
them what they think about the whole Covid thing? Or
how do they think we'll end up opening the borders? Or what are their
thoughts on the current quarantine rules or mask-wearing mandates? Are
they going to get the jab?
And we could share how we're unhappy with the collateral
damage lockdowns cause. Or (if you think relevant),
share how you're a bit perplexed about the mask mandates, which means
you can "use anything" and remove the mask to eat and drink.
Or that we're nervous about the jab being rolled out to teens
before the trials finish in 2023 (especially
because they don't tend to be affected by Covid). Or maybe we
simply ask
them how they think this will all end?
Whatever we say, imagine if they then felt doubtful
about what's ahead and had a few questions themselves. And if they each
spoke to a few more people, and they all told a few more ... and so on.
Our local hero ratio would grow
exponentially!
And you know what that means – heroes save the day.
And, lots of heroes standing together change the world.

ReplyDeleteNot relevant to this blog post, but just thought I'd share this with you.
Went to Mass this Sunday morning at St Columba's parish in Hamilton.
A good priest, Fr Eamon Kennedy, has recently moved there from Rotorua. Knew Fr Eamon from his time at Te Kuiti.
My wife and I were very pleased to find holy water in the fonts.
But it turned out to be a school Mass. So, it was crowded, and dumbed-down. Not by Fr Eamon, you can be sure, but by the schoolteachers, who video-ed everything as if it were a school concert.
Most disappointing was the politicisation of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.
The response to the Responsorial Psalm was in Maori language, which, of course, nobody there understood, except probably the schoolkids who had had it drummed into them.
The mystery of faith acclamation was in Maori language.
Of course, schoolchildren recited the unprayerful Prayers of the Faithful, better described as pious wishes. But that's the norm. But the “response” to each prayer was an eight-word passage of Maori language, which nobody but the previously informed understood.
Then the conclusion of the Prayers of the Faithful was a seven-line song of some sort, entirely in Maori language. I suspect that even the schoolkids didn't understand that.
There was a sign language practitioner up front throughout the Mass. That's OK. But it was a bit dismaying that she continued to sign everything that was displayed on the overhead screen.
Of course, she didn't sign the Maori language parts. We guess she had no idea what was being said/sung.
You could say a prayer for Fr Eamon. He will have his work cut out there.
Julia, I’m reminded of how my evangelisation has been stifled over the last three or four decades because I’ve been very reluctant to actually take a prospect to Mass. The concert hall behaviour, the irreverence and, even, sacrilege daunted me.
I say:
I empathise with Anonymous, deeply. You might say you're feeling browned-off. I attended a 'school' Mass myself this morning, only because my husband and son were doing so. The experience was perhaps not so ghastly as you describe in Hamilton but the politicisation of children in country 'Catholic' schools is no doubt proceeding apace. You don't mention the music. We were expected to sing about "the bread we eat" but the song was unsingable even for the poor kids who'd been taught it so the musak machine held sway.
If a "prospect" came my way (alas, the N O has almost completely killed prospects off) I'd send them to OLOL Havelock North where Fr Marcus Francis and two imported priests (Burma and India) say Mass with reverence. And although the tabernacle has been sidelined and the stained glass isn't all stained (so that the 'world' has not been completely excluded) it's otherwise a far better church than most of its vintage, and well loved, well cared for.
After the 'school' Mass I drove an hour and a quarter to the traditional Latin Mass at St Columba's Ashhurst where the experience was sublime. Out of this world. Palmerston North appears not to realise what a treasure lies on its doorstep.

ReplyDeleteIs this the Gospel on Covid-19 according to Luc? So far, we have been fed the Books of Ashley, Michael and Shaun, none of which appear to be articles of faith. The sheople will fall into line for their drenching while we are all "soaked" by Pfizer to the tune of $1.4 billion. "Free"? Yeah, right.

Totally agree with you. Quote: "All we like sheep have gone astray."
Paul Young:
The "fear of god" ... isn't she a loving God? Seems to me that this "god" was manufactured by some cuuning priest and kings wanting to establish power and control over people many years ago ... it's worked quite well even to this day ... but fortunately as people get more educated and learn more about life and the universe, they tend to recognise they've been duped and move on ...

I say:
DeletePaul, "the fear of God" means primarily the fear of offending Him. That fear may spring from fear of punishment in purgatory or hell, or from the love of God that compels us to do His will and to please Him. The soul needs to progress from the former to the former to the latter to enter heaven.
Paul Young says:
How degrading ... how could any one enjoy life and have any self respect with such a subservient and grovelling attitude? So so so very sad ...

It will get worse... A lot worse.. As the forces of irrationality and leftist insanity are now fully unconstrained...who would have thought even in Clark's day we would be considering handing over effective defacto control of the economy to unelected Maoris and the worst elements in society... I'm not scared. I went through lockdown with cancer.
Now, as then, I kept my eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of my faith.
I will refuse this jab, it is not a vaccine, it is gene therapy.

Dumb Nzers can’t think. They obey this traitor as she wants full control of nz once a free country of sorts. She will bring in the Mark 666 in years to come. If Nzers don’t wake from her tricks.
Like in the story jungle book the snake said to the boy....from his trance. He woke and ran from the snake.
