Pope John XXIII (1958-1963):
Pope Pius XI further emphasized the fundamental opposition between Communism and Christianity, and made it clear that no Catholic could subscribe even to moderate Socialism. The reason is that Socialism is founded on a doctrine of human society which is bounded by time and takes no account of any objective other than that of material well-being. Since, therefore, it proposes a form of social organization which aims solely at production; it places too severe a restraint on human liberty, at the same time flouting the true notion of social authority.
~Radio message to the Katholikentag of Vienna, September 14, 1952 in Discorsi e Radiomessaggi, Vol. XIV, p. 314
What a difference 50 years of 'the spirit of Vatican II', introduced by this same pope, and the Novus Ordo, has made. Now the Church Herself mostly sounds "founded on a doctrine of human society which is bounded by time and takes no account of any objective other than that of material wellbeing - viz, PONTIFICAL ACADEMY FOR LIFE
- which purports to come from the Pontifical Academy for Life - but more of that below. Read on.
Pope Paul VI (1963-1978):
Too often Christians attracted by socialism tend to idealize it in terms which, apart from anything else, are very general: a will for justice, solidarity and equality. They refuse to recognize the limitations of the historical socialist movements, which remain conditioned by the ideologies from which they originated.
~Apostolic Letter Octogesima Adveniens, May 14, 1971, n. 31
Pope John Paul II (1978-2005)
The fundamental error of socialism is anthropological in nature. Socialism considers the individual person simply as an element, a molecule within the social organism, so that the good of the individual is completely subordinated to the functioning of the socio-economic mechanism. Socialism likewise maintains that the good of the individual can be realized without reference to his free choice, to the unique and exclusive responsibility which he exercises in the face of good or evil.
Encyclical Centesimus Annus − On the 100th anniversary of Pope Leo XIII’s Rerum Novarum, May 1, 1991, n. 12
Pope Benedict XVI (2005 – 2013)
The State which would provide everything, absorbing everything into itself, would ultimately become a mere bureaucracy incapable of guaranteeing the very thing which the suffering person—every person—needs: namely, loving personal concern. We do not need a State which regulates and controls everything, but a State which, in accordance with the principle of subsidiarity, generously acknowledges and supports initiatives arising from the different social forces and combines spontaneity with closeness to those in need. The Church is one of those living forces.
~Encyclical Letter of Pope Benedict XVI
Hmmm. Well, that all seems clear enough. We should expect then, that the bishops will state that no Catholic can vote for Labour because it's a socialist government - not to mention Labour's Abortion Legislation Act which on the Vigil of the Annunciation ushered in the most evil law IN THE WORLD.
But will the bishops say any such thing? Bear in mind that, just like the mainstream media who function as a sort of adulatory Greek chorus to the drama of Jacinda Ardern, the Catholic Church in New Zealand is in receipt of a lot of dollars dolled out by this socialist government. As Bruce Tichbon of Palmerston North writes:
The bishops will issue a statement to guide catholic voters for the 2020 election. Page 3 of the August edition of Welcom magazine seems to provide a preview of what the bishop's statement will say.
There are immediate issues on the political agenda that are so socially divisive and contrary to Church teaching that they cannot be glossed over. Euthanasia is being thrust upon our society, and though the government does not seem to want to openly discuss it, an incredibly liberal abortion policy, which includes full term abortion, has recently been made law.
Our bishops must directly confront these issues. Waffle words that work around the issues will not do. The same edition of Welcom tells us on the front page the government has given $8.5 million for the restoration of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Wellington. This will be on top of the tens of millions the NZ Church receives from the government every year to subsidise Catholic Schools.
I hope the old adage "he who pays the piper calls the tune" will not apply to the bishop's 2020 election statement.
Humana Communitas In The Age of Pandemic can only be described as a fraudulent document.
Archbishop Vincenzo Paglia
Archbishop Paglia, anointed by Bergoglio to undermine the John Paul Institute on the Family and the Pontifical Council for Life has stated that is is "dangerous" to speak of the family as a "domestic church."
The sodomite sympathetic bishop, who may even be one himself, has contradicted traditional Catholic as articulated in tradition, the Catechism of the Catholic Church and the Second Vatican Council.

Paglia is the filthy little pervert who allowed a blasphemous orgiastic mural to be painted with his naked butt emblazoned upon the walls of the Cathedral. The face of Our Blessed Lord was based upon the sodomite hairdresser in the town.
May the LORD free us from these filthy perverts and convert them to repentance or destroy them in his wrath.
Since his appointment by Pope Francis to the presidency of the Pontifical Academy for Life, Paglia has caused much controversy by overseeing the dismissal of many of the strongest voices for life and family from Academy membership, as well as the appointment by Pope Francis of a large number of Academy members who dissent from Catholic doctrine on the inviolability of the right to life and on sexual morality. The purges have led to the creation of a parallel John Paul II Academy for Human Life and the Family (JAHLF), led by former members of the Vatican’s academy.
In his previous position as President of the Pontifical Council for the Family, Paglia oversaw the creation of a sex-ed program whose materials were so sexually explicit and even obscene that one psychologist associated with the Holy See’s Congregation for the Clergy said that Paglia should be evaluated by a sex abuse review board, and that “the pornographic images in this program are similar to those used by adult sexual predators of adolescents.”
While he was archbishop of the Italian diocese of Terni-Narni-Amelia, Paglia oversaw the creation of an “erotic” mural for his cathedral church that former members of the Pontifical Academy for Life called “blasphemous,” and even “demonic.”
The mural, painted by a famous homosexual artist, depicts Jesus carrying nets to heaven filled with naked and semi-nude homosexuals, transsexuals, prostitutes, and drug dealers, jumbled together in erotic interactions. The Savior himself is made to resemble a presumably homosexual male hairdresser from the town, and his private parts can be seen through his translucent garb. Paglia allowed himself to be painted among the other bodies in the nets, semi-nude and clutching a bearded man wearing nothing but a loose loincloth.
Paglia has steadfastly defended the mural, claiming it isn’t erotic or homoerotic. He has acknowledged that his sex-ed program “should have been dealt with more thoughtfully and professionally.”
And now we may revel in the revelations of Paglia's Academy's Humana Communitas In The Age of Pandemic: Untimely Meditations on Life's Rebirth (are you still with me, people?):
The lessons of fragility, finitude, and vulnerability bring us to the threshold of a new vision: they foster an ethos of life that calls for the engagement of intelligence and the courage of moral conversion. To learn a lesson is to become humble; it means to change, searching for resources of meaning hitherto untapped, perhaps disavowed. To learn a lesson is to become mindful, once more, of the goodness of life that offers itself to us, releasing an energy that runs even deeper than the unavoidable experience of loss, that need to be elaborated and integrated in the meaning of our existence. Can this occasion be the promise of a new beginning for the humana communitas, the promise of life’s rebirth?
Does this come from the same burble-burble pen as Querida Amazonia perhaps? It bangs on about 'mindfulness'; 'globalisation'; 'the common good' - all the buzz words that brand it as Deep State.
Too late do we learn consent to the darkness from which we came, and to which we finally return.
Darkness? The mind of Almighty God, our Creator and Redeemer? Eternal life? Darkness?
The exaggerated demand for meat in first world countries gives rise to enormous industrial complexes of animal farming and exploitation.
There you go. Dirty dairy. Wicked exploitative farmers.
The sharing of information ...
Lack of interconnectedness can be observed in efforts to develop remedies and vaccines. Absence of coordination and cooperation is now increasingly recognized as an obstacle to address Covid-19. The awareness that we are in this disaster together, and that we can only overcome it through cooperative efforts of the human community as a whole, is stimulating shared endeavors.
The articulation of cross-border scientific projects is an effort going in that direction. It should also be demonstrated in policies, through strengthening of international institutions. This is particularly important since the pandemic is enhancing already existing inequalities and injustices, and many countries lacking the resources and facilities to adequately cope with Covid-19 are dependent on the international community for assistance.
A privileged place belongs to the World Health Organization (WHO). Deeply rooted in its mission to lead international health work is the notion that only the commitment of governments in a global synergy can protect, foster, and make effective a universal right to the highest attainable standard of health.
Yeah right. Like the universal 'right' to abortion.
This crisis emphasizes how much is needed an international organization with a global outreach, including specifically the needs and concerns of less developed countries coping with an unprecedented catastrophe.
Yes, like the women of the African continent need Melinda Gates to inject them with contraceptives.
The narrow mindedness of national self-interests ...
Yep, let's go global.
Of course, the first duty is to protect life and health.
And there were we all thinking the first duty of the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church is to protect eternal life. To save souls.
It is time to imagine and implement a project of human coexistence that allows a better future for each and every one. The dream recently envisaged for the Amazon region might become a universal dream, a dream for the whole planet to “integrate and promote all its inhabitants, enabling them to enjoy ‘good living’” (Querida Amazonia, 8).
Well there you go. Querida Amazonia. What did I say?
I call this document fraudulent because while claiming to issue from the Vatican, from beginning to end there is no mention of God. Of Jesus Christ. Of His Blessed Mother. Of the Catholic Church. The official excuse for that is, it's so that Humana Communitas etc etc would reach a wider audience. Well it's touching, really, that the apologist could imagine anyone except Friday fish-eaters could conceivably want to read it at all.
It sounds maudlin, escapist, utterly pagan. But in reality it's about an awful lot of money and power. This drivel emanating from the very heart of the Church does not inspire us with great confidence in the NZ Bishops' forthcoming statement on whom we fish-eaters and left-footers should vote for on September 19.
We should rely instead on Our Lady. Mother of Good Counsel, Mother of our Creator, Mother of our Saviour, Mother of Mercy, Virgin most prudent, Virgin most venerable, Virgin most renowned, Virgin most powerful ...
Pray for us.
Charles Kuipers says:
ReplyDeleteLooks like Catholic church clergy becoming increasingly woke.
Mike Kuipers von Lande says:
Have been for decades unfortunately, especially in the west. When Ardern shoved through her appalling abortion laws earlier this year there was not a sound from our clergy.
I say:
Oh how can you say such a thing? They were 'deeply disappointed'. Diddums ...
Philippa O'Neill says:
ReplyDeletethere is no sign that this even came from a Catholic institution... let alone a Christian one.
Mike Kuipers von Lande says:
ReplyDeleteI didn’t even hear them say that (that they were 'deeply disappointed'). They did put on a lavish ceremony for the inauguration of the new bishop ...
Krauss Miles says:
The RC church is not to be trusted.
Charlie Baycroft says:
I wonder why the clergy are not speaking against abortion, euthanasia and the violations of people's freedom and civil rights?
maybe they fear the loss of their tax free status if they upset the people that control our political system?
Mike Kuipers von Lande says:
They are strongly aligned with the left through the ‘social justice’ committees and agitators in the parishes. It’s too much of a mind flip for them to imagine they may have spent the last 4 decades supporting Satan. Easier to keep going than go back.
Philippa O'Neill says:
ReplyDeleteAargh... Kicked off all the trads for this lot. 🙁 And it's not just laity that are concerned with this academy.
Bruce Tichbon says:
ReplyDeleteArchbishop Paglia, with his talk of new family models, sounds very much like what the radical feminists and ultra liberals who have been saying for decades - that the nuclear family is over and must be replaced with new family models (extended families, sole parent families, gay families, serial families, 'the village', state schools etc). His talk of 'familyism' sounds like 'clericalism', which was used by Pope Francis to try to blame the sex abuse problem onto priests, seeking to deflect the overriding culpability of the Church hierarchy.
For Pope Francis to appoint a wretch like Archbishop Paglia as president of the Vatican’s Pontifical Academy for Life is as outrageous as Pope Francis appointing (ex) Cardinal McCarrick to negotiate the secret deal for the Church with the Chinese Communist Party.
Pray for the Church, the perfect Bride of Christ.
Teresa Coles says:
ReplyDeleteYes I await too on what the Bishops have to say..They will just give guidelines and not any particular party..
Philippa O'Neill says:
ReplyDeleteThey don't need to mention any particular party but if it is anything like the stuff put out before last year's election then we will be advised to vote left and socialist.
Teresa Coles says:
Then they made a huge mistake.
Sharon Crooks says:
ReplyDeleteCardinal Burke makes the issue 'cut and dried' when it comes to abortion. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iHosoichttU&feature=youtu.be&fbclid=IwAR3quYINKujGd97urgrbCdxLH5pAcQ5AsbfOOkydSjYKmhB_ovBAI10kbOA
Stella McLeod says:
ReplyDeleteWell I’m glad I haven’t wasted my time by reading Humana Communitas!
Philippa O'Neill says:
ReplyDeleteI read a comment where someone had taken holy water and washed his eyes out after reading it... I don't blame him.
