NO MARRIED PRIESTS, NO DEACONESSES FOR THE CATHOLIC CHURCH

Believe it or not - and if we can believe it, thanks be to God - here's the breaking news from Rome:

'Dear Amazon': neither deaconesses nor married priests

In the apostolic exhortation fruit of the Synod of the Amazon, 'Dear Amazon', Pope Francis dismisses the ordination of married men and the ordination of women.

Finally we leave doubts behind. Pope Francis has not yielded to the desires of certain sectors of the Church and will not touch ecclesiastical celibacy. Nor will it yield in relation to the ordination of deaconesses, although they doubtless saw that was more improbable.
As for the places lacking priests, the prayer for priestly vocations is proposed and to encourage those who show missionary vocation to enter the Amazon region. Therefore, nothing to order married men:
89. In the specific circumstances of the Amazon region, particularly in its forests and more remote places, a way must be found to guarantee this priestly ministry. The laity can proclaim the word of God, teach, organize communities, celebrate certain sacraments, look for different ways of expressing popular devotion and develop the multitude of gifts that the Spirit spills in their midst. But they need the celebration of the Eucharist because "it makes the Church." We can even say that "a Christian community that does not grow or depend on the celebration of the Holy Eucharist is not built." If we are truly convinced that this is the case, then every effort should be made to ensure that the Amazonian peoples do not lack this food of new life and the sacrament of forgiveness.
90. This urgent need leads me to urge all bishops, especially those in Latin America, not only to promote prayer for priestly vocations, but also to be more generous to encourage those who show a missionary vocation to opt for The Amazon region. At the same time, it is appropriate that the structure and content of initial and continuing priestly formation be thoroughly reviewed, so that priests can acquire the attitudes and skills required by the dialogue with Amazonian cultures. This formation must be preeminently pastoral and favor the development of priestly mercy.

And regarding the ordination of women we read:
Such reductionism would lead us to believe that women would be granted greater status and participation in the Church only if they were admitted to the Holy Orders.
100. This calls us to broaden our vision, so as not to restrict our understanding of the Church to its functional structures. Such reductionism would lead us to believe that women would be granted greater status and participation in the Church only if they were admitted to the Holy Orders. But that approach would in fact reduce our vision; it would lead us to clericalize women, diminish the great value of what they have already achieved, and make their indispensable contribution less effective.
103. In a synodal Church, those women who in fact have a central role to play in Amazonian communities should have access to positions, including ecclesial services, that do not imply sacred orders and that can better signify their role. Here it should be noted that these services imply stability, public recognition and a commission from the bishop. This would also allow women to have a real and effective impact on the organization, the most important decisions and the direction of the communities, while continuing to do so in a way that reflects their femininity.

Bob Gill says:

Great news indeed! I have just lit a candle thanking Our Lady for her help in the matter.

Philippa O'Neill says:

Fantastic news... all those prayers - answered. This indeed is making my eyes leak! Thank you God. Thank you Pope Francis, Pope Benedict and Cardinal Sarah.

Bob Gill adds:

With two-thirds of the world’s 1.3 billion Catholics living in the southern hemisphere, but two-thirds of the world’s priests residing in the northern hemisphere - as Bishop Eduardo Reyes pointed out during the Amazon Synod - perhaps Pope Francis now will consider a more even world priest distribution to help alleviate the Amazon shortage.

Bruce Tichbon says:

This is a landmark move in the papacy of Pope Francis.

I feel like the Church has dodged a bullet, for now.  This will make the orthodox Catholics happier, but will it change the direction of 'progressive' Catholics?  Is this move by Pope Francis theological or political, or both?

I will await the analysis of the senior theologians of the Church.

WOLVES IN SHEPHERDS' CLOTHING ARE SAVAGING THE HEART OF THE CHURCH

To comment, please open your gmail account, email me, or use Facebook, Messenger or Twitter. Scroll down for other comments.

"Many of the shepherds of the Church have turned their backs on their first duty: they have turned their backs on prayer and the proclamation of Christ."

In his absorbing book, Christus Vincit, +Athanasius Schneider, Auxiliary Bishop of Kazakhstan, reproves our liberal shepherds (surely none more than New Zealand's) by quoting the prophet Jeremiah: "They have turned their back to me and not their face" (Jer 32:33).

Straight away, that verse speaks to us of the celebration of Holy Mass since Vatican II, versus populum (towards the people instead of God).

Bishop Schneider goes on to say that the Church today is suffering from "cardiac asthenia - a sickly, weak heart. The Church is the Mystical Body of Christ and the Eucharist is the heart. ... The new form of the Mass ... opened the door to a variety of subjectivist celebrations, and particularly with the practice of Communion in the hand we are suffering a kind of spiritual heart disease in the Church.

"Never in the bimillenial history of the Church were there perpetrated such horrible offenses against the Blessed Sacrament, so many trivialisations of the Sacrifice of the Mass on the part of the clergy and on the part of the faithful as in our time" - like yesterday, when a priest was reported here in NZ  as "waltzing up and down the aisle with a long feather duster, waving it like a conductor's baton, inducing the congregation to sing up".

" ... The practice of the reception of Holy Communion in the hand and standing ... reveals the deepest wound and disease in the life of the Church today. ... The Church ... especially in her hierarchy is weak, she has no energy, because her heart, the Eucharistic cult, is weak. Instead, she engages in frenetic external activities, as for instance synods, crisis and emergency meetings, addressing issues on climate change and migration, etc."

To hasten the death-throes of the Church, her enemies under this pope are suppressing the contemplative orders. Even as our Holy Trinity Parish newsletter this week reprints the dodgy Association of Catholic Priests (the Irish equivalent of NZ's), quoting the Carmelite St Therese as being "the heart of the Church", another Carmelite nun publishes "Stopping the Heartbeat of the Church":

- The Push for Euthanasia of Contemplative Life -
heartbeat church 1

"FOR CENTURIES", this Carmelite nun says, "contemplative religious have been recognised as the ‘heartbeat of the Church’. Even the 2018 Vatican document, “Cor Orans”, calls contemplative nuns the “praying heart” of the Catholic Church. However, this document is a massive push for the extinction of such powerhouses of prayer.
"Pope Francis has  approved Vatican documents which work for the demise of contemplative life. Many religious communities (have been) divided, amalgamated, or disbanded completely. The Vatican sees contemplative religious – especially “conservative” ones attached to the charism received from their founders – as a hindrance rather than a help to their plans for the Church.
"Despite the many attempts throughout the centuries to suppress monasteries (all at the instigation of Satan, who hates such powerhouses of prayer), not once have they ever come so close to success.
"If the heartbeat of the Church is stopped, the Mystical Body of Christ will inevitably be unable to survive. Those working for the destruction of Contemplative Religious Life cannot be working for the good of the Mystical Body of Christ.
"Poor misguided individuals, who value money more than prayer! The time will come when they will realise that in pursuing the one at the cost of the other they have lost everything, including their souls.
heartbeat church 2
"Jesus said:-
Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit shall be cut down and shall be cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits you shall know them.” (Matt.7:19-20)
"The fruits of Vatican II and its aftermath of modernism are bad fruits. And since a good tree cannot produce bad fruit, it is logical to conclude that wolves have entered the flock to scatter and destroy. Chaos, confusion and destruction are the work of the devil. God’s work brings peace and unity.
"Jesus tells us clearly:
No man can serve two masters. For either he will hate the one and love the other: or he will sustain the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.” (Matt.6:24)
"Unfortunately, ever since the Second Vatican Council, Church leaders have been openly seeking to unite the Church and the world; not in the Catholic way by promoting and adhering to the Gospel teachings, but by adapting the Church to fit in with the world.
"They have forsaken the Catholic view for the worldly view which is only concerned with man’s temporal welfare. St. James refers to those who attempt to unite the Church with the world by separating Her from Christ, Her Spouse, as:
Adulterers, know you not that the friendship of this world is the enemy of God? Whosoever therefore will be a friend of this world becometh an enemy of God.” (James 4:4)
"The only hope for the survival of the “praying heart” of the Church is to recognise that as long as the Vatican is filled with men who are eager for the death of the Church, it is futile to hope that it will be beneficial to seek recognition and approval from it. In former times we could be guaranteed that the approval of Rome meant the approval of God. Now we are forced to choose between the two. It is a matter of life and death.
Consider that I have set before thee this day life and good, and on the other hand death and evil....I call heaven and earth to witness this day, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing. Choose therefore life, that both thou and thy seed may live.” (Deut.30:15,19)."
Not content, however, with abusing the Most Holy Eucharist directly, the Vatican is poised now to emasculate the priesthood, with Pope Francis' apostolic exhortation on the Amazon region due to be published tomorrow (Rome time).

Pope Francis at the opening Mass for the Amazon synod Oct. 6, 2019. Credit: Daniel Ibanez/CNA.

We note that this week CathNews, the papolatrous organ of NZ's priests, publishes this pic of our pope at the opening Mass of the Synod rather than those which showed him smiling on as pagans and at least one Franciscan friar worshipped the idol 'Pachamama' at the Vatican.
CathNews continues, in its fawning way, "The document, which follows October’s Synod of Bishops on the Amazon, is highly anticipated for how the pope will respond to the recommendation to allow the ordination of married men to the priesthood for ministry in the region." The point is, it won't be just for "the region", will it? Nup.
"In this draft, which was leaked last week, a section on viri probati said “the competent authority should establish criteria and provisions to ordain” married men to the priesthood.

The leaked text is substantially identical to article 111 of the final document of the Amazon synod, which calls for the ordination of married men as priests.

The synod’s final document  also called for women to be considered for diaconal ordination"... How nice. How Anglican ..."and contained strong appeals on environmental issues and the rights of indigenous peoples, which Francis’ letter is also expected to address." Precisely the sort of thing Bishop Schneider abhors.
Not just Bishop Schneider, but Cardinal Robert Sarah, and Pope Emeritus Benedict VI, whose unenviable position in the Vatican is described by CathNews as 'the shadow pontificate' which is 'drawing to a close'.

Today Cardinal Sarah stated that, "I am convinced that (Pope Benedict) has told us the fundamentals, what nobody wants to hear: he has shown us that what really underlies the abuses committed by the clergy is a profound error in their formation. The priest is a man who is distinguished by his service to God and the Church. He is a consecrated person. His whole life is dedicated to God. And yet they want to desacralize the priestly life. They want to trivialize it, make it profane, secularize it. They want the priest to be a man like any other. Some priests were formed without putting God, prayer, the celebration of Mass and the fervent search for holiness at the center of their lives.

If by now you're feeling slightly queasy, here's an antidote: a true priest.

Ignacio María Doñoro, missionary priest in the Amazon: "I think that today, more than ever, in the Amazon and anywhere else in the world, what is needed is not the ordination of married people, but priests in love with Christ.

"To me personally I have been given a lot of light, from Cardinal Robert Sarah, Prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments: «I fear that some Westerners are using this assembly to advance their plans. I think in particular about the ordination of married men, the creation of women's ministries.

" I was surprised and outraged that the spiritual anguish of the poor in the Amazon was used as an excuse to support projects typical of bourgeois and mundane Christianity. It is abominable."
"I can't help thinking," says Father Donoro, "that my children in the Nazareth Home, who love Jesus and the Virgin Mary very much, would have felt as bad as those young people (who chucked the pachamamas in the Tiber), which would surely have led them to act in a manner similar to theirs. I cried when I saw those idols in the physical heart of our Holy Mother Church, above the holy remains of Saint Peter and Saint Paul. I was shocked and, like me, that scandalized millions of Catholics throughout the world.
"Somehow, the indigenous people of the Amazon Forest were used to attack the Catholic faith. The last of the earth, the smallest, the weakest, were used to show, in addition, a different reality from the one we live here.
"The Catholics of this region feel, a need to repair the Heart of Jesus. The only Queen of the Amazon is the Mother of God.
"The Amazon, like the Church around the world, needs holy and learned priests, humble and cheerful. Mother Teresa of Calcutta said that, on one occasion, speaking with a priest, he said: «Mother, for me Jesus is everything. I have no time or space for other affections. And Mother Teresa understood that, if that priest brought so many souls to God, it was because he was united to Him.
"The Holy Cure of Ars, patron of priests, said: «After God, the priest is everything! Leave a parish for twenty years without a priest and they will worship beasts. When you want to destroy religion, you start by attacking the priest, because where there is no priest, there is no sacrifice, and where there is no sacrifice, there is no religion.

"God chooses his priests, who devote themselves to Him in a full life, in a fiat without conditions. Christ was celibate and asks the priests to dispose with Him and give him the gift of our virginity, just as He wanted to give it to the Father for love of us. It is a wonder!
"I would have liked that in the Synod there was talk, among other things, about the dignity of women."
"Mother Teresa has said (in regard to) when the Virgin Mary visited her cousin Elizabeth and the unborn child jumped for joy in the presence of Jesus, “It is very strange that God used an unborn child to proclaim the coming of Christ. We know the things that are happening to unborn children. How their own mothers end their life! Today abortion has become the greatest destroyer of peace, of love, of truth. Children who are not yet born are the poorest among the poor. They are so close to God!

“Another issue that I consider essential is to make a clear and firm commitment to the truth. For the truth in morals, for the truth in God's revelation (without sweeteners). ”

"It is essential to look for supernatural means, such as prayer, Holy Mass, adoration, personal encounter with the Living Christ in the Eucharist, devotion to the Virgin Mary ... I believe that is what we have to do, here in the Amazon and in the rest of the world, because the Church is universal.
"The people of the Amazon, precisely because they are the poorest, deserve the best. They deserve priests totally dedicated to their ministry, that they become one with Christ, that their heart be undivided

Bob Gill says:

Regarding "... The practice of the reception of Holy Communion in the hand and standing ... reveals the deepest wound and disease in the life of the Church today.” I have just spotted a notice from the Liturgy Office in the Whanganui church newsletter advising appropriate precautions to take in the likelihood of the Coronavirus to New Zealand. I can see from reading it that, like some years ago when there was concern about another virus, there will, of course, be a restriction on receiving the Blessed Sacrament on the tongue.

I say:

Yep, the same notice was published in our 'The Holy Trinity' newsletter. I believe it came from on high to all parishes in the country.  Just let them try restricting reception on the tongue, I say.

Reception on the tongue, when done correctly as by the SSPX priests in Whanganui - and only on the tongue, only with the Sacred Host, as done by the Universal Church for two thousand years - is in fact the most hygienic, simplest and most practical way of administering the Blessed Sacrament.

A priest who knows what he's doing does not touch the tongue of the communicant.

A POOL PARTY RATHER THAN PENANCE FOR OUR LADY OF LOURDES PN

To comment, please open your gmail account, use my email address, Facebook, Messenger or Twitter. Scroll down for other comments.

That champion of innovation and heterodoxy, Father Joe Grayland of Our Lady of Lourdes, Palmerston North, has surprised his congregation once more. His latest brainwave was to invite parishioners to celebrate their patronal feast yesterday with a Pool Party after Holy Mass.

A Pool Party? In Palmerston North, mid-morning? To celebrate Our Lady of Lourdes, who called us to prayer and penance? You've got to be kidding. No. A Pool Party - and 'Games', even.

We conjecture that Father Grayland must cut a fine figure in his bathers, and would have led his hapless people off the diving board with great aplomb.

As one OLOL parishioner commented: "What next? THE POOL will be OPENED! After a Mass!?  I'm not against swimming, but the thought of it being something you participate in with parishioners after Mass seems so degrading in our culture.  This is NOT the pool of Bethesda. Just saying! Cannot get my head around this one!"

Another says: "You can see where it's headed. Naturism."

Instead of opening the pool, why didn't Fr Grayland expose the Blessed Sacrament for an Hour of Adoration of Our Lord Jesus Christ and reparation for offences against His Blessed Mother, and to pray for the Church in the greatest crisis in her two thousand-year history? To do penance and pray for sinners, as Our Lady asked at Lourdes?

Quite the contrary. Along with opening the pool, another proposal is to cancel OLOL's Friday Hour of Adoration of the Eucharist, the reason being, there is no priest available (or willing) to expose or repose the Blessed Sacrament.

Meanwhile, over the Track in Pahiatua, St Brigid's thinks it's a Good Idea to cut their Sunday Adoration time by half, from four hours to two. The reason given is "to make it more special". Que?  At St Brigid's too, they manage Adoration without a priest. It's a matter of having to, and as long as you have an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist or - interestingly - a layperson of either sex (see the 1973 Instruction "Immensae Caritatis").

Interesting I say, because here in Holy Trinity CHB, Father told me I couldn't "do" Adoration any more because I'd resigned as a 'Minister of the Eucharist'. The one remaining weekly Hour of Adoration went by the board some time ago, unnoticed by the Parish Council, when the 5 p m Mass following was cancelled because there was a congregation of one. Useless for me to suggest to the Council (as I had, more than once) that Mass should be held at 5.10 p m in the hope that parishioners in the workforce might attend. No, instead Mass and along with it, Adoration, was scrapped.

These are the facts, and if Father's statement that this layperson can't "do" Adoration any more sounds a bit like punishment for resigning as 'Minister of the Eucharist', when St Joseph's is so short of them, well, that can't be helped.

According to the mind of the Church - if not the mind of the PP - Adoration does not need a priest to expose and repose the Blessed Sacrament. But Adoration does certainly need a priest to promote it, and in Holy Trinity CHB as in so many churches in New Zealand, misled by their liberal bishops our priests don't even attend Adoration, let alone promote it.

Except for Maundy (Holy) Thursday, I can't recall ever seeing a priest attend Adoration, let alone promote it, here in Holy Trinity CHB. So now we have only one hour a week in the parish, at St Patrick's Waipawa, attended by 2-3 at best.

It makes a token, or farce even, of Sunday Mass attendance. If lay people truly believed in the Presence of Our Lord and God in the Eucharist, would they not turn up to Adoration, where they can beg Him to hear their prayers, or just visit Him sometimes in the tabernacle? If priests truly believed in the Real Presence, would they not encourage their people to pray like this? Would they not do it themselves?

At St Mary's in Palmerston North, with Indian Rosminian priests and a high percentage of parishioners being immigrants from India, where Catholic culture is so much more faithful and traditional than in NZ, Fr Manoj Mathew offers Benediction with bells on: incense, Latin hymns, and incense, the lot, after an Hour of Adoration on Sunday afternoon. "Very beautiful," I'm told, and "quite a good turn-out".

As another correspondent remarks: "Any priest who doesn't spend at least an hour before the Blessed Sacrament daily is a priest who follows the Lord far off. And therefore will be unable to remain orthodox and faithful to Christ. It's simply not possible, especially in this current crisis in the Church!

"That is why so many priests fall victim to the great apostasy we find ourselves in. "All the virtues are possessed by contemplation!" says St Teresa (of Avila). And the outpouring of the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit. Ask yourself how often you see our bishops and priests before the Most Blessed Sacrament on a daily basis!

"Two particular gifts of the Holy Spirit I find lacking in priests are discernment and wisdom, which they should have by their training and theological knowledge especially of the Sacred Tradition of the "Science of the Saints".

"Scripture must be interpreted in the light of unchanging Tradition and the Magisterium, not in the light of solo scriptura and Pope Francis' self-proclaimed Magisterium Pontificate!"

Bob Gill says:

It doesn’t say much for the parishioners of Our Lady of Lourdes, Palmerston North not objecting to a pool party. They should have canned the idea at the start and, as you suggested, opted for a traditional church event. There’s still time to celebrate, though, because the actual feast of Our Lady of Lourdes is not until 11 February (today).

Adoration, or Exposition with Benediction, seems to be a bit of a rarity in the Palmerston North diocese. It was Father Bryan Buenger, for example, who introduced the monthly 7pm service with Benediction at St Joseph’s Dannevirke after it not being celebrated on a regular basis for years. Now we have a new parish priest, Father Vince Onesi, I am hoping he will carry on with what Father Buenger started. Perhaps we can eventually end up with at least weekly Exposition, rather than just a monthly service.

As only a handful of parishioners currently attend our 7pm session, though, including the children of one family, I have suggested we canvass parishioners to find out which day and time of day would suit the parishioners so we can maximise on attendance. At the same time we should be targeting the children as most in the parish never attend church services other than the small number who attend Mass on a Sunday.

I do hope we get a bishop who is interested in investigating why so few children attend Sunday Mass. I can’t understand, for example, why so many parents ensure their children attend the local Catholic school to be educated, but don’t get them to Sunday Mass here.

I say:

A PN lay person, a bit of a liturgist, had this advice for St Brigid's Pahiatua, where their Sunday Adoration is threatened by a move to cut its time in half:
"I recommend that you try to put a halt on any decisions until you have had a chance to voice your concerns to Fr Vince once he is settled.  If he would be willing to expose and repose, then that would be the best case scenario, regardless of how many hours the Lord is exposed for.  The rest of the time, He awaits us in the Blessed Sacrament!  Perhaps Fr Vince would be able to offer Exposition with Benediction, as I'm sure he would be very familiar with this - he was with Fr Manoj for a time and Fr Manoj offers Benediction with all the Latin hymns, incense etc, as you have seen at St Mary's every Tuesday and some Sundays.  It is very beautiful.  You must ask him and let him know that you'd like it how Fr Manoj offers it!
St Mary's is also organising 24 Hours of Adoration, as last year, as   an introduction to Lent.

Stephanie Tichbon says:

Last September we went to Lourdes and bathed in the healing water. We brought back a large container of Lourdes water. There were 5 people outside of our own family that took some of this precious water, including one of our holy priests who makes good use of it. We have plenty more healing water if anyone wants some.

At our very own 'Our Lady of Lourdes' Church, the pool party for the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes is perhaps bringing to the surface, that some have stopped listening to the Lourdes story and the scientific evidence of the healing qualities of Lourdes water.

Bob Gill says:

It's not just the Lourdes story not being listened to by some. Our church pastors in NZ have made a point of not celebrating most feasts of Our Lady throughout the year. Most churches for example, will not even have mentioned the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes on Feb 11. In contrast, England still loves the Mother of God, as the country is to be re-dedicated nationally as 'The Dowry of Mary' on March 29 2020.

Philippa O'Neill says:

Bob, you are so right ... all but ignored ... just so awful. How did we get to this? We have a beautiful icon of Our Lady in our church ... given to us all from past members. It has a light behind it and the power to it was cut off some time ago so that it cannot be turned on ... that speaks volumes to me.

"SATAN'S COUNTERCHURCH" GODS: CLIMATE CHANGE AND SEX

To comment, please open your gmail account, use my email address or Facebook, Messenger, or Twitter. Scroll down for other comments.

"Satan will set up a counterchurch which will be the ape of the Church ..."

That household word and pre-Vatican II face of the Catholic Church in the '50s, the renowned American Bishop Fulton Sheen, has been proven a prophet.

Because that "ape of the Catholic Church" is rising right now in Germany, hand-crafted by Cardinal Reinhard Marx and the German bishops with contraception, masturbation, homosexual acts and optional celibacy for priests on their agenda in the working documents for the German bishops' 'Synodal Path'.

https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/german-bishops-working-doc-calls-for-approval-of-contraceptionhomosexuality-womens-ordination?utm_source=LifeSiteNews.com&utm_campaign=dea62a2f4e-Catholic_1_30_20&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_12387f0e3e-dea62a2f4e-405142193

Shades of the German Martin Luther, the heresiarch whose rewrite of Catholic doctrine set up man as god (call it anthropocentrism) and ushered in the Protestant 'Reformation'. But 500 years on, the demolition of the Church we love is directed from the Vatican, as one after another, prelates who revere the Bride of Christ are removed from the College of Cardinals by the pope who ushers them off through the Exit of Forced Retirement, installed by himself back in 2015.

A group of German priests, Communion Veritatis, however, has just this week called out their bishops, declaring that the 'Synodal Path' is a 'theological disaster full of falsehood and lies'; that its promoters 'want a church other than the one founded by Christ. The priests tell Marx and his cohorts that "Your aspiration is ... to build a horizontal man-church!"

Exactly. An anthropocentric counterchurch, as prophesied by Bishop Sheen.

Paul Collits says: Gives bald bearded Catholics a bad name.

I say: And 'im indoors deserves a good one!

Paul adds: Touche.

And now Archbishop Carlo Maria Vigano has denounced the pope for appointing Cardinal Leonardo Sandri - associated, Vigano says, with the cover-up of horrible sins committed by the notorious Fr Marcial Maciel - to pilot the next papal conclave. (+Vigano, incidentally,  describes Archbishop Ganswein (GORGEOUS GEORGE, GESTAPO AND GATEKEEPER TO BENEDICT, Jan 24as "a judas, and a hitman" for the Pope, in trying to suppress Emeritus Pope Benedict and Cardinal Sarah's book* in defence of clerical celibacy.)

https://remnantnewspaper.com/web/index.php/articles/item/4754-breaking-archbishop-vigano-to-pope-francis-the-faithful-have-a-right-to-know

I'm prompted to quote Bishop Sheen's prophecy of "An Ape of the Church" in response to yet another tedious JPIC newsletter from the Lay Carmelites of Australia which bows and scrapes once more before the gods of 'Mother Earth' and 'Climate Change'.

It's hardly surprising that the Carmelites have fallen for the climate-change biz, given their ancient history of loyalty to the papacy and given that this pope is a world leader and exponent of climate change, putting the cart before the horse as he does, in his concern for 'quality of life' here on earth instead of life in eternity.

The Vatican and the UN are two hearts that beat as one. Never mind that their "fight against climate change and migration" is fought with the weapons of contraception and abortion: sweep them under the carpet and carry on.

Saint Thomas Aquinas, Doctor of the Church, would remind us of some inconvenient and unpopular truths:

“God does not hate the nature or being of anything He has made (thus Scripture says: “Thou lovest all things that are, and hatest none of the things which thou hast made,” Wis 11:25), but He does hate the malice of the sinner’s will, by which the sinner acts against him, as many other verses in Scripture bear witness, e.g.: “The boastful may not stand before thy eyes; thou hatest all evildoers. Thou destroyest those who speak lies; the Lord abhors bloodthirsty and deceitful men” (Ps 5:5–6); “Thou hatest those who pay regard to vain idols” (Ps 31:6 [30:7]).

God made climate. God made time, so He made change. God made fire. And wind. He loves them all.

But He hates all those who in pursuit of money and/or power have manipulated these elements of His earth.

"The boastful may  not stand before thy eyes". Think Greta Thunberg, poster teen for Climate Change, who asserts she "can see CO2". And that "The moment we (youth) decide to fulfill something, we can do anything."

"The Lord abhors bloodthirsty men". Think Greta again. She says, "of all future generations ... " if you choose to fail us, we will never forgive you".

Dire indeed. The Pope, Greta, the Australian Lay Carmelites, and the world at large have fallen for a god whose feet if not made of clay are certainly specious - plastic, perhaps?

Writing in the Australian Quadrant Dr Paul Collits (ex-Holy Trinity Parish) says that "catastrophic anthropogenic global warming (CAGW) has come to be accepted science, accepted policy and accepted popular belief all over the globe".

Ahem ...

"The argument for “climate action” Collits continues, "so widely embraced, is based on a handful of highly questionable empirical propositions linked by such non sequiturs as would be immediately apparent to any Logic 101 student. The CAGW position is, essentially, that:

  • the earth is warming
  • this is recent and considerable
  • it is largely caused by human activity
  • it is dangerous
  • we (humans) can do something about it,
  • we humans should do something about it
  • we must mitigate rather than adapt.
"Every one of these propositions is open to massive conjecture."
https://quadrant.org.au/opinion/doomed-planet/2018/12/still-taking-water-in-the-alarmist-archipelago/
Satan's counterchurch," Bishop Sheen has stated, "will have all the notes and characteristics of the Church, but in reverse and emptied of its divine content. […] The False Church will be worldly, ecumenical, and global. It will be a loose federation of churches and religions, forming some type of global association.”

"Satan's counterchurch", must of course, have 'countergods'. Cardinal Reinhard Marx's agenda, and the Vatican's - clearly expressed in this new appointment, as head of the next papal conclave, a prelate associated with the deliberate cover-up of the worst priest predator in history, make this very clear (as if we didn't know already):

One of the counterchurch gods will be Sex. To be completely politically correct however, this god will be a goddess, because in Satan's counterchurch - as in the world - women will rule.

And the other god will be Anthropogenic Climate Crisis.

New Zealand is doing its gallant little secular bit to assist. Did you notice two highly significant initiatives of this shabby coalition government, both announced on January 13 - snuck in underhand, as most of the nation were "creeping like snails unwilling" back to the office?

Education Minister Chris Hipkins announced that parents are now required to give written consent for their children to attend religious instruction classes (RI). How many parents will bother? It's the kiss of death for religion in schools, which is exactly what Chris Hipkins (who looks like he's mislaid his prefect's badge) has said he intends. Interesting, the name-change from 'Religious Education' to 'Instruction'. Because, you realise, religious anything can't be education, it can only be instruction. Get it?

And whoa! In the same breath as it were, Hipkins declares that the school syllabus for 11-14 year-olds (Years 7-10) will feature (you guessed it) climate change.

In one fell swoop this Government has effectively removed God from our schools and replaced Him with the god of climate change. Tweens - children at a very vulnerable age, already confronting LGBTQXYZ challenges to their natural sexual identity - will be told that "climate change poses a severe threat to children's most basic rights".

Writing for the Dominion Post, my brother Karl du Fresne doesn't hesitate to say such indoctrination reminds him of Joseph Goebbels' remaking of young minds in Hitler Youth:

"Indeed, the curriculum seems almost to relish the prospect of impressionable pupils panicking over the prospect of an overheated, perhaps uninhabitable, world. The teaching resource is tinged with New Age gibberish about the need for children to explore their feelings – anger, frustration, sadness, fear – relating to climate change. Teachers in turn will be encouraged to listen, empathise and "reinforce the key message". If that's not indoctrination, I don't know what is" .

Never mind that even teachers themselves admit that "the biggest challenge for teachers is the complexity of the issue ... "the problem with focusing on climate change is that it's created a plethora of scientists with slightly different views" (my emphasis).

In other words, teachers don't understand what they're supposed to teach, and the scientists don't either. But hey, "learning is about exploring our own creativity... it's a journey of aroha for ourselves, each other, and the planet... " It's all about Me, plural. Me, female and plural.

And had you realised that "Climate breakdown and the global crisis of environmental degradation are increasing violence against women and girls"?

Did you know also that "some governments are moving to put action for women and girls into their climate and development policies, and the UN in Madrid moved to include a gender action plan as part of the climate negotiations"?

Wake up, people, you need to get with it. The Pope says we must obey the United Nations!!!

“When we recognize international organizations, such as the International Court of Justice in The Hague or the United Nations, and give them the capacity to judge internationally, when they speak, if we are (part of) humanity, we must obey.”

Que? Contraception is the sine qua non of the UN drive to lower population growth. The agenda of last November's UN Population Fund was, in plain language, to force all countries to offer free abortions on demand throughout pregnancy; and in population control to target the poor, especially refugees.

What's the Pope doing about that? The Vatican stood aside, made nice noises and left Kenya and pro-life organisations "to oppose the abortion juggernaut on their own."

Closer to home, in Australia an outfit called Council Action in the Climate Emergency (CACE) busies itself helping "councils and agitators to follow through on their declarations with supposed planet-saving action.

CACE's vision for our future is that warming will lead soon to “a simultaneous collapse of multiple food production areas around the world,  a “multi-breadbasket failure” leading to a global food crisis.” Food prices skyrocket, millions starve or become climate refugees, “numerous countries” will declare martial law and even extreme food rationing will not prevent their collapse.
Animal agriculture is a massive contributor to global warming. Get a sitting MP/representative to introduce or support the passing of a Climate Emergency and Mobilisation Act."

With advice from CACE, Darebin in Melbourne (the city that condemned a prince of the Church to solitary confinement on a trumped-up charge) "became the world’s first council to declare a “Climate Emergency”. Since then about 85 Australian councils have rung out their own “emergency”  declarations, plus 1300 worldwide, including New York and London. In the UK some 60 per cent of councils have declared an Emergency. The Australian numbers are astounding.  Nearly 7.4 million — roughly 30 per cent of the population — are covered by councils’ declarations.

Fear, as demonstrated right now especially in coronavirus hysteria, is highly contagious. And the name of the agents who activate and breed this fear "is legion". The Church's business is surely not to assist them but to expose and drive them out, as Jesus Christ did for the demoniac on the shore of Galilee. Among the "legion" then, are:

  • the media (who especially in NZ are almost exclusively left of centre, and therefore foster change - which makes news)
  • politicians (especially of the political left, vs Jacinda and her abortionist cronies, liberalised abortion being The Best Thing to cure climate change - let's save the planet for us who made it out of the womb alive)
  • corporations
  • NGOs
  • schools and universities
  • 'progressive' theologians
  • the Vatican: the Pope's encyclical Laudato Si (Care of our Common Home), endlessly recycled on so many reams of JPIC paper, it creates a crisis on its own) failed to teach true Catholic doctrine in regard to stewardship of creation.

Taken together, the "legion" make a propaganda machine which drives a narrative seemingly as effective as that supernatural power which drove the swine into the sea, and like lemmings, the faithful who continue to trust in their shepherds follow them over the cliff, not into the icy waters of the tundra but into eternal fires which our liberal shepherds now imply no longer exist.

Stick your head above the parapet, and you're shouted down as a 'denier'. Scientist 'deniers' are themselves denied research funding. Google elevates search results of the shouters above allowing deniers to present their own views.

To return to Bishop Sheen's premise, that Satan is running a counterchurch which idolises sex and climate change, I call on another prophet, non-Christian Michael Crichton, who said back in 2003:

“Today, one of the most powerful religions in the Western World is environmentalism. Environmentalism seems to be the religion of choice for urban atheists. Why do I say it’s a religion? Well, just look at the beliefs. If you look carefully, you see that environmentalism is in fact a perfect 21st century remapping of traditional Judeo-Christian beliefs and myths.
There’s an initial Eden, a paradise, a state of grace and unity with nature, there’s a fall from grace into a state of pollution as a result of eating from the tree of knowledge, and as a result of our actions there is a judgment day coming for us all. We are all energy sinners, doomed to die, unless we seek salvation, which is now called sustainability. Sustainability is salvation in the church of the environment. Just as organic food is its communion, that pesticide-free wafer that the right people with the right beliefs, imbibe.”

The counterchurch god of climate change puts me in mind of nothing more than Mel Gibson's The Passion of Christ. When I saw that movie, back in 2004, I thought the mob mentality, the hysteria of the Jews, was overdone. Now, I don't think so.

They hated Christ because He was Truth; they crucified Him because He was Life. Even if climate change is all or only a small fraction of what the alarmists tells us, ultimately, the forces driving it are opposed to truth and life, employing propaganda, contraception and abortion to gain their selfish ends of wealth and prosperity.

I remind myself too, in regard to Satan's counterchurch goddess of sex, that the three enemies of the soul are the world, the flesh and the devil. The world worships sex; Our Lady has told Sr Lucia, the seer of Fatima, that "More souls go to Hell because of sins of the flesh than for any other reason".

Faithful Catholics then, need to sacrifice themselves for sinners, especially for wolves disguised as shepherds and for those of their flock they've led astray.
We would do well too, to revisit the Council of Trent's sixth session's Decree on Justification:
Nevertheless, let those who think themselves to stand, take heed lest they fall, and, with fear and trembling work out their salvation, in labours, in watchings, in almsdeeds, in prayers and oblations, in fastings and chastity: for, knowing that they are born again unto a hope of glory, but not as yet unto glory, they ought to fear for the combat which yet remains with the flesh, with the world, with the devil, wherein they cannot be victorious, unless they be with God's grace, obedient to the Apostle, who says; We are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh; for if you live according to the flesh, you shall die; but if by the spirit you mortify the deeds of the flesh, you shall live.

Bob Gill says:

Patrick Moore, Greenpeace co-founder, has said that there is no scientific proof that human emissions of CO2 are the dominant cause of minor warming of the Earth’s atmosphere over the past 100 years. If there were such a proof it would be written down for all to see.

The late David Bellamy, botanist, wrote: “I don’t like being called a denier because deniers don’t believe in facts. There are no facts linking the concentration of atmospheric carbon dioxide with imminent catastrophic global warming, there are only predictions based on complex computer models.”

There is no actual proof, then, that anthropogenic carbon dioxide emissions are responsible for global warming.

Teresa Coles says:

Oh dear. Keep praying, Julia!

Bruce Tichbon says:

The Church today is under attack on many fronts from alternative ideology/spirituality that seeks to infuse itself into the Church and take it over:

Feminist  ideology/spirituality
Gay  ideology/spirituality
Indigenous/Maori  ideology/spirituality
Socialist (social justice)  ideology/spirituality

It seems to me the truth and doctrine of the Church are getting suppressed and are being replaced by a morass of ill defined and spurious ideas.
