MONS BELL CALLS OUT CATHOLICS WHO KNEEL TO RECEIVE COMMUNION

Minor elevation, mutual distraction

"Look at the minister dispensing the host(sic)."

So, when Catholics at Holy Mass receive the Lord of Hosts - the Lord of the living and of the dead, our God Almighty - Monsignor David Bell of the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit Palmerston North declares we must not look at Him, He who "can destroy both soul and body in hell" (Mt 10:28).

No, Mons Bell instructs us to look at the lay person speciously designated as 'Minister of the Eucharist', instead.

Monsignor David Bell

Says it all, really. That instruction from a monsignor in the cathedral newsletter Kotahi Ano tells us a great deal about why since the Second Vatican Council Mass attendance, reception of the Sacraments and even why priestly vocations have dropped off so dramatically.

It's simply because the majority of Catholics no longer believe in the Real Presence of Jesus Christ, Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity, in the Eucharist. That is blindingly obvious.

"For us as Catholics the Eucharist has a very central place and we hold it in great respect," writes the Monsignor.

WOT??? Respect? How about awe, Monsignor? You remind me of the Novus Ordo Catholic who was challenged for his practice of remaining seated (like so many others) throughout the Consecration. Could he not at least stand? No. Asked if he'd stand if God suddenly appeared on the altar, he said he would, he'd stand and bow as a gesture of respect. A convert, one who was raised Brethren, said that was the funniest thing she'd ever heard.

If God appeared on the altar we would all immediately fall prostrate, utterly overwhelmed with awe, with love and fear, either filial or servile depending on our state of grace or lack of it. But God does appear on the altar, and He allows Himself to be carried about and 'dispensed', like medicine perhaps, by unconsecrated hands.

" ... it (sic) is very dear to us as individuals and as a community." Just how do we show that It is very dear to us? Couldn't we at least give It a capital letter? Monsignor, you have locked our 'very dear' Eucharist away in utter solitude. And even if and when the cathedral is eventually unlocked, after this bout of lockdown lunacy is over, how many people will think It dear enough to visit, to talk to, to listen to, just to keep It company? How often is there anyone in that tucked-away-apologetically little room?

And there's that word, again. 'Communidy', as our socialist Prime Minister constantly invokes it. Before Vatican II, was 'community' a popular concept? Did we ever apply it to the Church? Before Vatican II the Body of Christ was composed of seeking salvation for their souls, but now we're a 'communidy' seeking togetherness and cups of tea and biscuits. And so-called vaccination.

A major fundraiser for Ardern's election had links to the CCP

"When we are denied full participation in receiving the Eucharist because of the Covid-19 lockdown we sense a tremendous loss." Really? How do we sense that, Monsignor? Because of the fuss the NZ Conference of Bishops has kicked up about this ""unjust law (which) is no law at all", which debars your flock from participation of any kind, never mind full and active, in the Eucharist?

"But it can also be a time when we reflect upon how we perceive our devotion around the Eucharist." It's actually how Our Lord perceives our devotion, not how we do, or even how you do, Monsignor, that matters, surely.

"I have mentioned in earlier articles about the need to genuflect before the Tabernacle as we take out Holy Communion or maybe just passing close by the Tabernacle." Unfortunate connotations of Kentucky Fried there, Monsignor. It's a question of exposing the Blessed Sacrament, not taking it out like getting a pound of butter out of the fridge.

"This is a good practice, but I also earlier remarked about the use of a genuflection or profound bow when we enter the Church for Mass." Indeed it's a good practice, but more than that, it's required practice, surely.

"What I have said about readers and special ministers of the Eucharist etc. not having to continually bow as they move to take up their duties." They are NOT 'ministers of the Eucharist'; they're not even 'special'. They are Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion. The trouble is, they're not 'extraordinary' as they were supposed to be; they've become ordinary, even deadly ordinary, in the sense that they're not reserved as they should be only for those Masses when there is a genuine concern of prolonged delay over distributing (not 'dispensing') Holy Communion, or Masses where the Priest is incapable of distributing Communion himself.

The only Minister of the Eucharist is the Priest. You're blurring the essential distinction, Monsignor, between lay and ordained here.

"The same applies when we as the congregation come forward to receive Our Lord at the time of Communion. The procedure recommended when Holy Communion was first taken in the hand (after Vatican 11) was, place your hand out in front of you with right hand under the left (vice versa if left handed), look at the minister dispensing the host (sic), respond to the words “The Body of Christ” with “Amen”, (which is an act of faith saying, “Yes, I do believe this is Christ’s Body”), step to the side, place the host in your mouth and if you wish, make a sign of the cross (optional).

"Lex orandi", Monsignor, "lex credendi": we pray as we believe. It's tragically obvious from the way we pray - by receiving Our Lord in the hand and picking Him up, disregarding any Particles that fall to the floor to be trodden on and/or vacuumed up afterwards, that we do NOT believe. So that actually Communion in the hand is an eloquent demonstration of lex orandi, lex credendi. The way we are praying (in this context, receiving, saying 'Amen') shows that we do NOT believe that this is the God of Gods, the Lord of Lords, the Most High, the Almighty.

"This allows us to concentrate on what we are doing – receiving the Body of Christ." Looking at Mrs So and So as she smiles a special smile and expects a smile in return, which is only good manners after all, allows us to concentrate on what we are doing, receiving the Body of Christ? We don't quite follow, Monsignor.

"Under levels 1 – 4 restrictions we have all been asked to receive Holy Communion on the hand." No, to be accurate, Monsignor, we've been TOLD to receive Holy Communion on the hand, and this in defiance of our unalienable right to receive on the tongue, which is the humble way to receive. Have you noticed, Monsignor, how many prayers, genuflections, and texts expressing or requesting the foundational virtue of humility have vanished from the Mass? Is that perhaps why now both Priest and people insist that they should stand instead of kneel, and take Communion in the hand (from a hand that's quite likely patted a succession of heads in the Communion queue)?

Enough said

St Teresa of Jesus (Avila), Doctor of the Church, tells us that if we lack humility, the whole edifice of our faith life is doomed to totter and fall. She was speaking to individuals but it applies, Monsignor, also to the 'communidy' and we see the evidence of that only too plainly, not just in Mass counts etc, but in the tragic loss of the Church's moral authority, the respect she was held in once even by Hollywood movie moguls, for whom the Church's approval meant high ratings at the box office, and by Communism for whom the Church was once the greatest opposition but with whom the institutional Church is now hand-in-glove.

"Some people like to bow before receiving the Eucharist, others genuflect, & others kneel to receive – all good in themselves but are they distracting us from what we are doing, concentrating on the act of receiving Our Lord in Holy Communion? "

self-explanatory

When you say 'distracting us', Monsignor, do you mean that people who genuflect or kneel to receive are distracting other people, or distracting themselves? If they're distracting other people, then those other people need catechesis on what they're supposed to be doing themselves. Anyone who really believes that it is the Lord Whom they are about to receive will not be distracted by anyone else. And you cannot possibly know whether they are distracting themselves. Their action in genuflecting or kneeling is approved by centuries of Church tradition, so the act is good; and the inference that they distracting themselves is hardly evidence-based - is it, Monsignor?

"Are we doing it because we think it is more devotional or respectful to do so?" I hardly think so." Pardon us, Monsignor? Catholics believe it is sinful to judge another's motivation. As has been famously - or infamously - asked, 'who are we to judge?'

"I believe respect comes from doing things properly, doing what others do, & not being different."

This is beyond belief. 'Doing things properly' is usually not doing what others do. 'Doing what others do' is very likely doing as the world does, the world which crucified Our Lord and would again if it could. Did Jesus Christ Our Lord do what others did? Or was He 'different'? He was so 'different', He was crucified.

"So, what is it saying to me about who I am?" Once again, with respect, Monsignor, it is what Christ is saying to me about who I am, that matters.

"What message can it be giving to other people if I am acting differently?"  As long as the message we are giving to God is "I love You, I adore You, I bless You, I thank You and I glorify You", we hardly need bother our pretty heads about the message receiving Communion on the tongue can be giving to other people. With respect, again, Monsignor, we suggest that it's none of other people's business and they should get a life.

That's not meant facetiously: it's meant in all seriousness. They should get a life in Christ and they need holy priests to teach them how to get it.

"Am I holier, more respectful than others?" Maybe not. Probably not. But at least we can make reparation and expiation to Our Lord for the offences against His Majesty in the Holy Eucharist by making ourselves, by going down on our knees to receive Him on the tongue, a butt of derision and condemnation- just as He was before Pilate.

"Our Lord had something to say to the Scribes & Pharisees about drawing attention to oneself "(Matt. 23:5) …

"And all their works they do for to be seen of men. For they make their phylacteries broad, and enlarge their fringes "(Douay Rheims). Overlooking the syntax, we may point out that Our Lord was having something to say to His disciples, about the Scribes and Pharisees. And yes, there is the temptation to do things in order 'to be seen of men', and sin in so doing.

And repentance for that sin is perhaps in large part the reason why we fall on our knees before the Lord in Holy Communion, to beg His forgiveness. We can hardly help it, that we are seen by others. But Our Lord sees our hearts.

CORONER SAYS VAX KILLED BBC PRESENTER; WORLD GOVTS ACCUSED OF GENOCIDE

Forty-four year-old Radio Newcastle host Lisa Shaw trusted science enough to get her first dose of the Oxford-Astraveneca COVID vaccine in late April.

Headaches startedshortly afterward.

In late May, she was dead.

BBC reported that Shaw was transported to the University Hospital of North Durham via ambulance on May 13, after presenting the news, with a severe headache that had lasted for several days.

Dr. John Holmes, who treated Shaw upon her arrival, said she described these headaches as “shooting and stabbing” across her forehead and behind her eyes.

Tests conducted on Shaw revealed several blood clots in her brain, and the finding led doctors to move her to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary neurology specialist unit, the BBC reported.

There, Dr. Christopher Johnson administered treatment.

Johnson said Shaw remained conscious for several days while at the unit, but on May 16 her symptoms escalated.

Her headaches became more severe, and she began struggling with her speech.

Imaging indicated she had suffered a brain hemorrhage, and doctors attempted to relieve the mounting pressure on her head by removing part of her skull, the BBC reported. It was too late, however, and Shaw passed away five days later, on May 21.

Karen Dilks, the senior coroner for Newcastle, gave a narrative conclusion. “Lisa died due to complications of an AstraZeneca Covid vaccine,” she said.

Are you still worried about getting vaccinated against COVID-19?

In light of stories such as Shaw’s, many Americans still are. And considering some of the serious side effects we’ve heard about — and even death — maybe there’s a good reason for the skepticism.

Medical professionals across the spectrum still maintain that such drastic side effects are “extremely rare.”

But from anaphylaxis, Guillain-Barré syndrome, thrombosis and myocarditis to reports of deaths following the jab(s), it’s naturally concerning — regardless of how “extremely rare” these reactions might be. Are you willing to risk it?

Professor Dr Luc Montagnier accepts the Nobel Prize, 2008

New evidence, including sworn affidavits from leading experts such as Professor Luc A. Montagnier, has been submitted to the International Criminal Court by lawyers in several countries alleging Government’s across the world and their advisors are complicit in genocide, crimes against humanity and breaches of the Nuremberg Code.

Attorney Melinda C. Mayne, and Kaira S. McCallum submitted a 27-page ‘Request for Investigation’ to the International Criminal Court (ICC) at The Hague back in April 2021 alleging the UK Government and its advisors were complicit in crimes against humanity in the name of Covid-19.

On the 28th of April 2021, the pair received a formal acknowledgement from the ICC and were assigned a case number – ‘141/21’. Since then the pair have been gathering new evidence to use in their ICC claim and have established connections with lawyers and research scientists from around the world.

A new press release released on the 17th August confirms that the pair have received sworn affidavits from leading experts including research scientist and nuclear cardiologist Dr Richard M. Fleming, the Nobel Laureate virologist Professor Luc  A. Montagnier, and Dr Kevin W. McCairn, a neuroscientist and expert on neurological disease.

Professor Luc A Montagnier, who won a Nobel prize for his work on the HIV virus, claimed in April 2020 that he believed the novel coronavirus was created in a laboratory. Then in May 2021 the expert virologist stated that “Mass vaccinations are a scientific error as well as a medical error. It is an unacceptable mistake. The history books will show that, because it is the vaccination that is creating the variants”.

A new claim has also been submitted to the ICC due to the vast amount of new evidence and information that has come to light in the past few months, and the lawyers say they now have compelling evidence that “the SARS-CoV-2 virus and the Covid-19 ‘vaccines’ are deliberately engineered bioweapons that have been released in two phashes on unsuspecting peoples of the world”.

Attorney Melinda C. Mayne, and Kaira S. McCallum have also confirmed that they have now be joined by lawyers who have filed similar Requests for Investigation to the International Criminal Court, in France, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Because of this a letter was sent to the ICC on the 12th August 2021 requesting they all be allowed to submit a joint claim, whilst also submitting preliminary evidence for the allegations common to everyone across the world, and requesting the right to have claims specific to individual countries also investigated by the ICC.

One request specific to the United Kingdom is an examination of genocide of the elderly and vulnerable that took place in care homes and hospitals through the inappropriate use of midazolam and morphine. Another investigation specific to this issue has also now concluded and a private criminal prosecution will proceed against the UK Government, Matt Hancock, Chris Whitty and others if the team of lawyers and experts who have carried out the investigation do not receive satisfactory answers to the extensive questions that have been forwarded to the aforementioned in an open letter sent on the 17th August 2021.

Whilst in the joint claim between lawyers from several countries they have requested that there be an immediate suspension on the entire Covid-19 injection programme and an end to the testing of asymptomatic people.

The lawyers say that they now eagerly await the decision of the International Criminal Court as to whether they will allow a joint claim by several countries to be made and accept the Request for Investigation.

They have made it clear to the ICC that due to the escalating medical apartheid, the loss of basic freedoms and rights, and the ever-increasing, very high number of deaths and serious adverse events suffered by recipients of Covid-19 injections, that there is an urgent need for the Court to act swiftly and without further delay.

To that end the lawyers have requested a meeting at the Hague as soon as is practicable.

Whilst awaiting the response Attorney Melinda C. Mayne, and Kaira S. McCallum have confirmed they are in discussions with lawyers in other countries who have not yet filed their individual Requests to the ICC, but have indicated they wish to join them, and will issue an update as and when there is further news.

POPE WEARS VAX, JEWS WORE STARS, KIWIS WEAR MASKS - HMMM

"I never had any special interest in the Church before, but now I feel a great affection and admiration because the Church alone has had the courage and persistence to stand for intellectual truth and moral freedom.

"I am forced thus to confess that what I once despised I now praise unreservedly."  - Albert Einstein.

In Hitler's Germany and in all of Nazi-occupied Europe, Jews had to wear a yellow star of David.  In Jacinda 'Jackboot' Ardern's New Zealand, all New Zealanders now have to wear masks.

We Kiwis who wear masks should reflect on what happened to those Jews and their yellow stars - where those six million badge-wearers ended up.

Jewish children wearing their badges

Useless to expect the institutional Catholic Church, led now by Jorge Mario Bergoglio, to stand squarely against the globalists' and their puppets' campaign for suppressing intellectual truth and moral freedom.

Pope Francis has urged people to get vaccinated against Covid-19, describing doing so as “an act of love”.

Trying to protect oneself against a virus with a so-called vaccine produced from fetal cell lines of unborn babies, aborted live and dissected live, is 'an act of love'? It's a preposterous assertion - but one fervently adopted by modernist bishops, like New Zealand's, worldwide.

The pontiff made his appeal in a video produced by the Vatican and the Ad Council, a non-profit US group that has previously made videos promoting vaccination against Covid. He praised the work of scientists for producing safe and effective vaccines.

From unborn babies' body parts. Making billions for Big Pharma. Especially for Bill Gates.

“Thanks to God and to the work of many, we now have vaccines to protect us from Covid-19,” he said in the video.

What appalling effrontery. Blasphemy, even.

“Vaccines bring hope to end the pandemic, but only if they are available to all and if we collaborate with one another.”

In other words, come all ye faithful and get jabbed.

“Vaccination is a simple but profound way of promoting the common good and caring for each other, especially the most vulnerable,” he said.

Even the socialist ideology of 'the common good' on earth cannot be served by killing the most vulnerable. The ends can never justify the means.

The pope has previously spoken about the importance of the Covid-19 jab, while emphasising that vaccinations must be distributed equally, especially to poor countries.

Oh yes, especially to poor countries who have far too many people who have far too many babies, because the vaccine is the globalists' chief tool of depopulation. In a 2010 Ted Talk Bill Gates stated: "Now, if we do a really great job on new vaccines, health care, reproductive health services, we could lower that by, perhaps, 10 or 15%."

Maintaining his steadfast commitment to intellectual property rights, globalist health czar Bill Gates pushed for a plan that would permit companies to hold exclusive rights to lifesaving medicines, no matter how much they benefited from public funding.
Given the enormous influence Gates has in the global public health world, his vision ultimately won out in the Covax program—which enshrines monopoly patent rights and relies on the charitable whims of rich countries and pharmaceutical giants to provide vaccines to most of the world.
Should we be surprised that a monopolist-turned-philanthropist maintains his commitment to monopoly patent rights as a philanthropist too?https://www.wired.com/story/opinion-the-world-loses-under-bill-gates-vaccine-colonialism/

(Bergoglio's) video is aimed at a global audience, and features bishops from the US and Central and South America. Francis has faced scepticism about vaccines from traditionalist cardinals, including from his staunch critic, the American cardinal Raymond Leo Burke.

Just this week, Cardinal Burke recovered from a near-death Covid experience, after a surely unprecented worldwide vigil of prayer.

Burke has previously criticised the way governments have handled the pandemic and vaccines. Last December he referred to Covid-19 as the “Wuhan virus”, echoing the former US president Donald Trump. And last May, he spoke out forcefully against Covid vaccines, saying: “It must be clear that vaccination itself cannot be imposed, in a totalitarian manner, on citizens.”

Burke also said coronavirus “has been used by certain forces, inimical to families and to the freedom of nations, to advance their evil agenda”.https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/aug/18/getting-covid-jab-is-an-act-of-love-says-pope-francis

Cardinal Burke is proof that the real Catholic Church - the Church so admired by Einstein for courage and persistence to stand for intellectual truth and moral freedom - still survives, as she always will. He concluded by saying:

"The most effective weapon against Covid is “our relationship with Christ through prayer and penance, and devotions and sacred worship”.

Says it all, really

CATHOLICS, SIGN IN FOR MASS OR GET PINGED

To comment please open your gmail account, or use my email address or Messenger. The sheer volume of comments on Facebook makes posting them on this blog impracticable, but exceptions will be made for some which have real significance, especially in regard to the Catholic Faith.

"Father is well and enjoying his isolation.  If you want to drop off any food to him please leave on the door step and ring him to let him know."

What's going on here? Last April, when Christ's supposed Vicar, Jorge Mario Bergoglio, first locked the doors of St Peter's in obedience to the civil authorities, the hierarchy tamely followed suit, locking churches and hiding in their palaces and presbyteries.

And there were howls of outrage all over the world from Catholics denied the Mass, the Sacraments and the Lord Himself in the Blessed Sacrament - because the papacy and priesthood exist to serve the people.

But now as we endure lockdown lunacy all over again it's taken as read - literally, in the parish newsletter - that Father should 'isolate' in his presbytery and have meals dropped off by kind parishioners who have no hope of him saying Mass on Sunday, let alone the Sacrament of the Sick if they're dying of Covid (not jolly likely).

Of course they want to accompany their priest, especially if he is elderly. But the tables have been turned. Now, the shepherd whose vocation is to feed his flock is being fed by them.

As priests themselves pray, in the Divine Office for Pastors:"Neither do men light a candle and put it under a bushel, but upon a candlestick, that it may shine to all that are in the house.  So let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven (Mt 5:15,16).

And - by no means unrelated - in the same newsletter, the current Pro-life Facts bulletin giving the horrific details of the Abortion Legislation Act passed by Ardern, Little&Co, Death Dealers to the Nation (demonically enough, on the Vigil of the Annunciation) is edited down to the single appalling fact that now, "a late term abortion may be provided if a qualified health professional considers it clinically appropriate". It's like, go for it! In a Catholic parish newsletter. Unbelievable.

The space saved is devoted to 'Covid-19 Safety Protocols' and a puff piece from Cardinal Dew about his healthy walking-wearing-a-mask habits and how it's 'an act of love' to get the ClotShot which has killed thousands and maimed many more.

Moving right along we arrive at another 'Catholic' publication, CathNews, the mouthpiece of the Marist Fathers. CathNews can't wait to tell us how the new Covid sign-in regulations will apply to Massgoers.

The circus comes to town

Head Prefect Hipkins will ping churches $300-$1000 if they fail to keep records of people's visits either by scanning QR codes with the Covid-19 Tracer App or manually signing in.

A reader of this blog has been kindly informed by her husband that he has installed the app on her phone. She said thank you nicely but forebore to say she had no intention of using it. Oh but, you say, then if her church is pinged she should pay! "An unjust law is no law at all" (St Augustine, whose feastday is tomorrow), she would say, and might add "we'll cross that bridge when we come to it."

The Parish priest at St Mary of the Angels, Wellington’s central Catholic church, says the ‘common good’ demands churches get involved.

“St Mary’s relies on volunteers, and in the interest of the common good, we will do what we can to comply with government requirements,” said Fr Kevin Mowbray SM.

See? An order devoted to Our Blessed Mother Mary. Marist. Marxist now, nearly. Christ and His Church demand not the socialist ideology of "the common good", but that individuals save their souls.

... Palmerston North Cathedral priest, Dr Joseph Grayland told CathNews that the speed of the Delta variant outbreak is dramatic and the Cathedral parish will do all it can to aid in contact tracing.

Grayland said that most people already use the current sign-in system.

‘I have not seen anybody refuse to sign in when asked, but I have no way of knowing whether everybody has signed in or just waved their phone at the QR code,” Grayland says.

Our reader would like to assure Fr Grayland that if she were in the PN Cathedral parish (and she thanks God she's not) she would not be waving her phone. Because that would be deception. A lie.

Grayland admits his parish volunteer greeters are currently not yet equipped to deal with someone who refuses to sign in and there is little doubt there will be new skills to learn and procedures to follow.

Our Lady of Lourdes Palmerston North

We can imagine. Karate, kickboxing, taekwondo ... Seriously, what opportunities for growth in the Church bureaucracy, which in Palmerston North at least is already somewhat oversized.

Note, in all of this, no appeal for prayer, for devotion to Our Blessed Mother and the saints, no vestige of a supernatural perspective. Would we get more Catholicity perhaps, from the papabile tipped to take the papacy when Bergoglio resigns as he's supposed to be doing, shortly, for reasons of age (nearly 85, same as Pope Benedict XVI when he 'resigned') and ill-health?

Bergoglio and Tagle - a lot in common

Luis Antonio Tagle,a Filipino, is Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples and so New Zealand as a mission country comes within his purview.

What does he think of the 'pandemic'? Just the fact that he calls it a 'pandemic', when world deaths have not risen since 2019, is more than a little offputting. He was educated by the Jesuits and has run Caritas International: same.

He had been asked what people who feel more anxious, stressed, and depressed due to the Covid-19 crisis could do to help themselves.

Accepting the current reality of the pandemic is a key way to cope, he said during a broadcast of “The Jesuit Hour,” a Jesuit Communications online talk show.

When life is not exactly as we want it to be it can help if people turn themselves towards ‘acceptance’, he explained.

“While we are here, let’s accept the situation and limitations, the fears and doubts of the situation today.

“If we accept the inconveniences in faith, we could get out of this as a better humanity.”

Humanity, note. A cardinal is surely supposed to point the way to divinity. It's the Novus Ordo effect: everything is predicated on the here and now, rather than on heaven and hell, where we are all without exception headed in the end, for all eternity.

Can we not see how our how our sense of right and wrong is gradually being stifled and suffocated - as in the acceptance now, after not much more than a year, of the fact that there are no Masses celebrated during this most dire time yet in the history of humanity; that meanwhile Father can enjoy his 'isolation' in his presbytery; that we can advise parishioners that they need only one medical professional (who could be a dentist or a chiropodist) to authorise killing your nearly full-term baby?

That we can submit to the illogical diktats of an evil Government, tamely wearing masks and waving our phones about at the command of Ardern, Little&Co, Death Dealers to the Nation?

Do we imagine that the Germans suddenly found themselves overnight complicit in the murder of six million Jews? No. All the way through the '30s and '40s they gradually had their innate sense of morality subdued and ultimately snuffed out by Hitler and his Nazis.

"And fear ye not them that kill the body, and are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him that can destroy both soul and body in hell" (Mt 20:28).

From the Confessions of St. Augustine, bishop
(Lib. 9,10-11:CSEL 33, 215-219)

Let us gain eternal wisdom

The day was now approaching when my mother Monica would depart from this life; you know that day, Lord, though we did not. She and I happened to be standing by ourselves at a window that overlooked the garden in the courtyard of the house. At the time we were in Ostia on the Tiber. And so the two of us, all alone, were enjoying a very pleasant conversation, "forgetting the past and pushing on to what is ahead.." We were asking one another in the presence of the Truth - for you are the Truth - what it would be like to share the eternal life enjoyed by the saints, which "eye has not seen, nor ear heard, which has not even entered into the heart of man." We desired with all our hearts to drink from the streams of your heavenly fountain, the fountain of life.

That was the substance of our talk, though not the exact words. But you know, O Lord, that in the course of our conversation that day, the world and its pleasures lost all their attraction for us. My mother said, "Son, as far as I am concerned, nothing in this life now gives me any pleasure. I do not know why I am still here, since I have no further hopes in this world. I did have one reason for wanting to live a little longer: to see you become a Catholic Christian before I died. God has lavished his gifts on me in that respect, for I know that you have even renounced earthly happiness to be his servant. So what am I doing here?"

Shortly, within five days or thereabouts, she fell sick with a fever. Then one day during the course of her illness she became unconscious. My brother and I rushed to her side, but she regained consciousness quickly.

We were overwhelmed with grief, but she held her gaze steadily upon us, and spoke further: "Here you shall bury your mother." I remained silent as I held back my tears. However, my brother haltingly expressed his hope that she might not die in a strange country but in her own land, since her end would be happier there.

When she heard this, her face was filled with anxiety, and she reproached him with a glance because he had entertained such earthly thoughts. Thereupon she said to both of us:

"Bury my body wherever you will; let not care of it cause you any concern. One thing only I ask you, that you remember me at the altar of the Lord wherever you may be."

"BRACE FOR THE DEWFALL" - FB ON +DEW'S TLM CANCELLATION

To comment please open your gmail account, or use my email address, The sheer volume of comments on FB now make it impracticable to publish them all on this blog. Sorry about that, chief.

'Time for the Priests who say the traditional Mass in that Diocese to go underground."

That comment was the opening shot in a veritable hail of bullets on fired on Facebook in response to "Cardinal Dew cancels Wellington Archdiocese Latin Mass" https://juliadufresne.blogspot.com/2021/08/cardinal-dew-abolishes-wellington.html.

In defiance of the announcement (above) some comments warrant publication, if only for the supreme importance of the issue at stake.

One who commented, on the FB group Defense of the Immemorial Rite,  was Dr Peter Kwasniewski, Thomistic theologian, liturgical scholar and choral composer, often quoted on this blog. His contribution was to recommend 'The Society of St Hugh of Cluny' on Traditionis Custodes - Despatches from the front.

"I love this blog.  Stuart's writing is golden."

Gabriel Syme: "Pope Francis is leading the Church into an ecclesial war. And in war, only one side wins.
Hence, I think that ultimately only one will survive: either Novus Ordo or Traditional Latin Mass.
