KILLING THE UNBORN IN A SENSE IS KILLING GOD - letter to NZ Herald

The true origin of climate change and mitigation of its effects is properly the task of the Church to explain, but the Church in New Zealand - and its mouthpieces, in imitation of the secular media - have faffed around bemoaning its consequences, with no cognisance of its cause.

The root of greenhouse gas emissions, like all evil, is sin. We in wealthy countries like ours have brought this situation on ourselves, abusing the planet by gross self-indulgence, especially in the last fifty years by abusing our own children, killing our own unborn in selfish pursuit of our perceived ‘rights’.

Unborn children are God’s creation, his “little ones” and “as long as you did it to one of these, you did it to me” (Mt 25, 40). In killing them, in a sense we kill God.

We are all God’s creation, and by his divinely poetic justice God unleashes his created forces of climate to abuse us in our turn.

The Herald is right; “it’s a bleak picture - but it doesn’t have to happen”.

However, it’s not science that will save us, but repentance.

  1. The Church classed as heresy Galileo’s insistence that the earth orbits the sun and the Church was ultimately shown to be wrong, as we can all recall. This should have been a warning, to my mind, for the Church to stay out of scientific matters like climate change, or global warming as it used to be called. Anyway, there are many scientists who believe climate change is a natural phenomenon and not man-made - so it is debatable.

It is not my focus in getting involved with the issue here, however, as the Church lacks expertise in the matter. Let the Church focus on things that can be changed by man, some would say, like what we should do to get more priests – an urgent problem in the Catholic world. Such focus will surely lead us to the things that really matter, like the Catholic view that the killing of innocents is no different to eliminating God from our lives.

  2. There is little of more certainty than that anthropogenic global warming is a far left hoax, a gigantic hoax of Goebbellian style.
The feminist (i.e., main stream) media suppress all views and evidence to the contrary, and, indeed, publish false reports (fake news ?) and then refuse to retract and apologise when presented with the irrefutable truth. This is my personal experience, which I'm happy to share with anyone who might doubt it.
Those who seek to know the truth about global warming should browse the internet. They'll find an abundance of reputable and credible sources of evidence refuting not only mankind's contribution but also global warming per se.
Its appellation was not changed to climate change because global warming was clearly apparent.
