"I have a dream."

Martin Luther King said it first, but he won't mind being repeated.

Martin Luther King Jr. Speech: 'The Three Evils' - The Atlantic

My dream is that the NZ Catholic Bishops' statement for Election 2020 - which they promised us yesterday - will say something very much like this:

"Given the appalling record of New Zealand's Labour Coalition Government on issues which are dearest to the beliefs and to the soul of the Catholic hierarchy, and the Catholic voter, We have decided - and deciding is not something which comes easily to Us - to give clear direction on the issues and options available to the electorate in Election 2020.

1a) The appalling Abortion Legislation Act passed in March, on the Vigil of the Feast of the Annunciation, which completely dismisses the right to life of in-utero children. Some Parliamentarians have sought to justify themselves by declaring that the zygote, embryo, foetus is not a human being. This is one of a number of instances where politicians have been seen to ignore scientific facts for political or ideological purposes.

1b) That legislation completely disregarded the fact that an overwhelming majority (92%) of submissions from the public to the Select Committee were opposed to it.
1c) The Select Committee heard only 150 submissions orally, out of 2890 who asked to speak.
1d) This appalling abortion legislation was rushed into law by Parliament during the distraction of coronavirus hysteria, further indicating this Parliament’s preference for less than open democracy.

1e) Parliament voted 100-19 against allowing a public referendum on the abortion legislation, further demonstrating a disdain for the will of the people.

2a) Parliament signed up to the United Nations’ Global Compact for Migration. A number of countries, including the United States and Australia, pulled out of the agreement because of the potential impact on decision-making of individual countries.

2b) Saint Thomas Aquinas affirms that not all immigrants are equal. Every nation has the right to decide which immigrants are beneficial, that is, “peaceful,” to the common good. As a matter of self-defense, the State can reject those criminal elements, traitors, enemies and others whom it deems harmful or “hostile” to its citizens.

2c) Signing up to the U.N. Migration Compact seriously compromises the sovereignty of our country and the will of the people in regard to refugees and immigrants. Natural Western civilisation allies, such as Australia, USA and Israel have refused to sign up for these reasons.

2d) Signing up to the U.N. Migration Compact lessens our control over the ingress of immigrants and refugees less likely to integrate, thus weakening our established and cherished culture and traditions, both secular and, particularly, religious.

3) The science in regard to anthropogenic global warming is, at best, unsettled. That is apparent to anyone who is prepared to do some investigation. Despite that, both the Government and the Opposition readily voted into law the Zero Carbon Act, which will have disastrous long-term effects upon this country’s economy, while further eroding legitimate freedoms of the people. This can not be considered as other than dismissal of scientific reality in favour of political or ideological objectives.

4a) The institution of marriage remains sacred to Catholics and all Christians, and has been vital to the development and the strength of the Western civilisation which has delivered and protected the freedoms and rights that we have long cherished. The marriage ceremony is a public and permanent commitment of husband and a wife to each other and any children. This commitment, publicly given and publicly witnessed, gives security and stability to families. Figures as significant and disparate as Pope John Paul II and Mao Tse Tung have declared that communities/nations are only as safe, secure and functional as their families. The Prime Minister and Leader of the Labour Party, Jacinda Ardern, is an unmarried mother who treats the institution of marriage with contempt.
4b) Both the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition, Judith Collins, voted in favour of a Bill in 2013 which allowed same-sex marriage."

I have a dream that one day (but don't hold your breath, because the Bishops are still "in the final stages of preparing our triennial Election Statement for distribution") that they will conclude it would be inappropriate for a Catholic to vote for the continuance of the present Government.

I have a dream that one day the Bishops will note that the Opposition, that is, the National Party, have shown their readiness to co-operate with the Government where a Catholic could not condone.

I have a dream that the Bishops will have felt the need to search out an alternative political option.

I have a dream that one day the Bishops will find that option in the New Conservative Party. After all, the Bishops know that Catholics have contributed to the positions taken and advanced by New Conservative, and they know that many Catholics are already supporting New Conservative.

I have a dream that one day NZ's Bishops will cease to be this Marxist government's "useful idiots", and enunciate true Catholic teaching in regard to the issues of abortion, immigration, climate change and marriage. That one day very soon they will admit that the policies so far enunciated by New Conservative very closely align with the teaching of the Catholic Church.

But what is a dream to me might be a nightmare to the bishops. As Liza Minelli sang in Cabaret, "Money makes the world go round", and in New Zealand it's Government money that makes the Church go round, to the tune of $1.22 million just in COVID subsidies, for just three of our dioceses. As for Catholic schools, in 2019 the Government granted extra funding of $265.6 million over four years. Way back in 2000 schools were getting a base amount of $1000 and a further per pupil amount of up to $330 depending on their decile ranking.

Money talks. In Wellington, where the Government handed out $8.5 million for restoration of its cathedral, Cardinal John Dew has jumped the government gun and suspended all Masses at the cathedral and throughout his Archdiocese. Celebrating Mass in line with Level 2 government restrictions - keeping congregations under 100 - is too hard for Cardinal Dew.

In Dunedin last Sunday Bishop Michael Dooley surrendered his cathedra (his throne) and St Joseph's Catholic Cathedral to the Anglican Bishop of Dunedin, the 'Right Rev Dr Steven Benford' - a pretend bishop and a heretic - for a 'Confirmation Eucharist'.

On the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the cathedral altar where Our Lord Jesus Christ is immolated for our salvation and that of the whole world, was used for the Anglican's 'supper'.

"Absolutely scandalous," says one reader, a priest, "when the Anglicans have other Anglican places of worship they could have used." But at local Catholic churches Holy Name and Sacred Heart, Catholics were shut out while - to quote another irate reader - "the Anglicans made merry in our Cathedral!"

All in the name of 'Nice'. Only it's not 'nice', it's nasty.

The hierarchy, like Judas, have betrayed their Shepherd and their faithful flock, but I still have a dream. That dream is that the laity will prove loyal to Christ and His Church in Election 2020, by identifying with the  "conservative" beliefs enunciated below as included in the policies of the New Conservative Party, and agree with every single one, and vote accordingly in Election 2020.

I have a dream that one day - October 17, to be precise - Our Blessed Mother and Warrior Queen will deliver victory to the forces of good (New Conservative) and vanquish the forces of evil (Labour, Greens and every single MP (especially PM Jacinda Ardern and National leader Judith Collins) who voted for the Abortion Legislation Act, and every single candidate who would have voted for that Act).

Can people stop calling it a prank? It was an intentionally dishonest lie intended to manipulate Catholic voters.

    I say:
    It had its funny side.

  3. No, Jeanette, you're confusing it with the election statement of the bishops.

You "knocked it out of the park." I'm sure that the NZ Bishops will be inspired. Just waiting on their rewrite. Coming anytime now.

  5. Just been watching "Remnant TV". The Davos Economic Forum is pushing for a 'great re-set' in 2021. The Global green take-over to make us all poor and the rich richer. Soros, Sachs and their merry men are the drivers. Why is Trump vilified? Because with all his faults, Trump is pushing against the Globalist agenda which sadly Pope Francis is backing. Well worth watching on YouTube. Look how Rome's Academy For Life has been destroyed. There are people in Rome dressed as clerics who are I am sure gay greenies.

I see that "NZ Catholic"refers to you as a “conservative Catholic”, not only politicising orthodox Catholicity but also presenting “conservative” as a pejorative.
