‘Canto fermo’ is the term for an existing melody used as the basis for a new composition. The prose and poetry of mystics like John of the Cross, Teresa of Avila and Edith Stein – all informed by the Gospel – is my ‘melody’. The ‘new composition’ is this blog and my indie novel ‘The Age for Love’. To buy my book go to amazon.com or smashwords.com and download to your kindle, iPad, phone or any reading device.

FAMILY VIOLENCE IS NURTURED IN THE WOMB (Letter to Dompost, July 21)
A moment’s reflection and a little common sense are enough to show that family
violence (Group seeks unity on partner violence, July 21) is nurtured
where the family is nurtured, in the womb. Abortion is the main driver of this
horrific ‘epidemic’ of abuse; for the relative peace and prosperity we once
enjoyed we must revisit and rewrite the CS&A Act of 1977. On this issue, to
find The Way Forward recommended by the Impact Collective we need to go
backward.
